One of my favorite parts about my job is getting to hear from you guys. I LOVE getting feedback from y’all – whether that’s an encouraging message, or a specific request. One of the questions I get MOST from you guys is about my Apple Watch. So, today I wanted to do an Apple Watch review for you guys and answer any and all of the questions I’ve gotten about it!lauren sims apple watch review

I’ve had my Apple Watch (I have the 38mm series one Apple Watch in rose gold) for over a year and a half now and absolutely love it. Someone recently asked me when they saw my watch “accessory or necessity?” and I quickly answered: necessity!lauren sims apple watch review

The main thing I use my watch for is fitness. There is a built in fitness tracker into the Apple Watch (I do not use any outside fitness apps on the watch), that I use to track my runs, stair master work outs, spin classes, weight training, yoga, walks with Beau, hikes, and any other fitness activity.lauren sims apple watch review

The (second series) Apple Watch has a built in GPS, so it can track your distance on runs – in addition to your pace, heart rate, and calories burned. (I have the series 1 Apple Watch which does not have a GPS, but it can still track your distance on runs, if you carry your phone with you. I always carry my phone with me when I run anyway so that wasn’t a big deal for me). Any workout you do, the Apple Watch will track your heart rate, and therefore track your calories burned.lauren sims apple watch review

Another reason I love my Apple Watch is because it syncs with your phone. So, when I get a text message on my phone, my watch buzzes and I can see/read/reply to the text on my watch. This is nice when I’m curling my hair in the bathroom, and my phone is in my bedroom. I don’t always reply to text messages on my watch, but it’s nice to be able to view them instantly…just in case it is something super important. Also when my phone rings, my watch buzzes and tells me who is calling. So, if I don’t have my phone with me right then, I don’t have to run to go find my phone and see who’s calling or if it’s important.lauren sims apple watch review

There are TONS of apps and stuff you can get on your Apple Watch. Technically, you can read/answer e-mails on your watch, scroll through Instagram, order a dominoes pizza (lol), and so many other things. I honestly don’t use many apps on the Apple Watch (and no way am I going to read e-mails on that tiny screen haha). I’d say the only apps I use on the watch (other than the fitness app), are the weather app, calendar, and reminders (but, all of those are built-in).lauren sims apple watch review

One of the most frequently asked questions I get about my Apple Watch is about my straps! I have 3 different sports bands – they are all the same band, just different colors. I have the indigo band, the pink sand, and the lilac. So, I wear these everyday and definitely for working out. For my birthday, Michael’s mom got me the Hermes leather strap that I LOVE. I wear this strap if I’m not actually wearing workout clothes which is rare haha! All of these straps can be purchased at the Apple Store!lauren sims apple watch review

I think that sums up the jist of the questions I’ve gotten about my Apple Watch! Overall, I would 100% recommend it to ANYONE. Michael and I both have one, my siblings do, my mom does, Michael’s mom does…it’s great for fitness, but so many other things as well. I didn’t think my mom would actually like it, but she wears hers constantly and loves it!lauren sims apple watch reviewlauren sims apple watch reviewOutfit details: Grey hooded vest (SO soft!) | Lace-up seamless leggings | Lace-up sports bra | Round sunglasses | Nike sneakers (also available here) | Apple watch

Let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you guys. And as always…I love when y’all request specific posts, so keep ‘em coming!

Have a great Monday!

Do u think the heart rate monitor works well on the watch? Purchased a Fitbit Alta Hr and disappointed. During sweaty workout sessions the Hr monitor doesn’t always work/inaccurate therefore giving me inaccurate results.

yes I think the HR monitor is really accurate! you just need to make sure the watch is tight enough on your wrist so it can accurately track your HR!

Did you have a Fitbit prior to your Apple Watch? Do you have the ability to compete with other people (step count)?

Just got an Apple Watch for my birthday and LOVE it!

Could you do a post on wallets? I love your handbag selection. I have used the same big bulky MK wallet for years! I need a new one that can go with my smaller bags as well.

Do you actually review your workout and run info? I know the watch is good for TRACKING but what do you do with all that info?

i think it’s just helpful to know! if i’m training for a race, then yes i definitely like to know my pace/mile splits, etc. if i’m not training for a race, i review the information after the workout just for my own knowledge! but don’t do anything with it after that.

Do you mine sharing what you have your move goal set too? I am a runner as well and trying to set a accurate goal for my large red ring.

the apple watch will help you set your move goal according to how active you are, how tall you are, your age, and weight. so…knowing my goal probably won’t help you with that because it’s very specific to each person! but, mine is set to 510.

Great review! I have just got my first apple watch and I love it too! I use it mostly to track exercise and share the results with my family. That way we can all motivate each other 🙂
