I will be the first to admit that I am not a beauty expert. Over the past year or so I have come to love and really enjoy learning more about makeup. Being a blogger, I’m fortunate enough to have enough makeup in my bathrooms to practically start my own store! I try new things all the time, but I wanted to share with y’all 5 of my makeup products that I keep coming back to. They are essentials in my makeup bag I couldn’t live without!
1. Veil Mineral Primer by Hourglass
Until trying this primer, I honestly thought primer was really pointless. People said it made your makeup last longer but I sort of thought it was all a hoax. When I tried this primer though…I saw what a HUGE difference a good primer can make on your makeup! I love this one by Hourglass because it makes your foundation go on super smooth and adds to the coverage. It also helps prevent “makeup meltdown”. So, if I need to get ready for a meeting at 10am, but still be looking fresh-faced by 6 o’clock for dinner…I definitely wear this primer because it keeps your foundation on, and looking great, all day!
2. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation
Foundation is one that I will try a new one out every few months. I’m very particular about foundation. I don’t have perfect skin, so I like for foundation to have coverage…but I also like a really natural look when it comes to makeup. Definitely not going for that “cakey” look. I’d heard great things about Makeup Forever foundation so I decided to give it a try, and I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite foundation I’ve ever worn! This is from the product description: “Developed specifically for the film and TV industry’s most advanced technology, Ultra HD Liquid Foundation creates a naturally flawless complexion—in and out of the spotlight. Invisible under the latest, super-focused 4k lens, this revolutionary foundation features uniquely-coated pigments that provide medium to buildable coverage with an even lighter weight, second-skin texture that looks just like skin.”
So at first it appealed to me because I’m taking photos all the time and I thought it would look great on camera (it does!). But this has become my everyday foundation now because it’s lightweight, but still provides great coverage. And if you want MORE coverage, you just keep layering it in! I highly recommend this foundation.
3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
Like I said, I am no beauty expert and up until about 3 months ago, the idea of a contour kit totally freaked me out. If you’re feeling the same way, TRUST ME. It’s not scary at all haha! I guess if you’re wanting to do some crazy major contouring it could be intimidating, but I love this contour kit because it’s so simple. I use the yellow color in the middle to set my under eye concealer and brighten my eyes, and then use the light pink on the bridge of my nose and cheekbones to highlight those. Use the darker colors around my forehead close to my hairline, and then under my cheek bones. And that’s about it! There’s definitely more you could do with the contour kit…I just like to keep it simple (and fast). If you haven’t tried it before, I encourage you to try this one out – and tell me what you think! I feel like it just gives your face more of an “awake” or “done up” look!
4. Bobbi Brown Bronze Shimmer Brick Compact
I don’t go anywhere without this thing. It is like a bronzer, a blush, a highlighter all in one. I love that it creates that bronzed/sun kissed look without being TOO dark or intense. It has just the right amount of shimmer to give you a pretty glow, without the shimmer being too much!
5. Sugar tinted lip treatment in nude
I try out new lipsticks constantly, and depending on what trip were going on, I have different lipsticks in my bags at all times. However, this sugar nude lip treatment never leaves my makeup bag. I wear it when we’re going to the beach or I know we’ll be in the sun (because it has SPF in it), but also wear it with white t-shirts and cut off shorts because I love the nude color! This product is legitimately on replenishment for me haha. The color looks great with everything without being too overpowering, and it feels so good on your lips!
What does your makeup routine look like? Do you stick with the same products or do you like branching out? If you’re in the market for a new foundation or primer…I’d love for you to try some of these products out and let me know what you think! Hope you love them as much as I do!
