Happy New Year’s Eve y’all! If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably already know what my top 10 purchases of 2016 are. But, I wanted to share those with you today because as a blogger, I obviously post a ton of outfit ideas…but these 10 things are items I’ve worn COUNTLESS times, and will continue to do so in the new year!
Madewell Ryder Cardigan (also available here – I’m wearing the XS)
So you’ve probably seen me post about this cardigan at least 50 times now, because I wear it constantly. I wear it on airplanes, I wear it over a cami for a going out look, I wear it lounging around the house…it is seriously the softest thing in the WORLD and I love the loose/oversized fit.
AG Jeans (nearly identical pair here, second photo is this pair. I wear a 25)
I bought my first pair of AG jeans in the beginning of 2016 because I got a Nordstrom gift card for Christmas. I’d never spent this much on jeans before, but the second I tried them on…I completely understood the price. These are the softest jeans you will ever wear, and you can’t beat the quality. They don’t stretch out at all and after a year of wearing mine at least 3 times a week, every week…they are still in perfect condition! I loved them so much I got Michael a pair of men’s AG’s this year as well, and he loves them!
Free People sweater (I have this in 3 colors, and wear a size XS)
It might seem slightly excessive to have the same sweater in so many colors…but y’all this Free People sweater was SUCH a good purchase. Michael and I went to a happy hour event this past Wednesday night and I had about 10 minutes to get ready. This sweater is always the first thing I grab when I don’t even want to think about what to wear…because I ALWAYS love it. Whether I’m wanting to get dressed up or if I’m feeling casual or if I’m feeling like a baggy sweater bc #holidaydiet lol.
Adidas superstar sneakers (size down. I’m normally an 8 and got these in a 7)
I just did an entire post on why I love my adidas sneakers so I won’t go into too much detail, but when I first bought these sneakers I had NO idea how much use I’d get out of them. They look cute with jeans, their great to take on trips that involve alot of walking, they’re insanely comfortable, and the price is really reasonable.
YSL glossy lip stain (I have this in several colors – #107 and #17 are my two faves!)
For years I’ve heard so much about this lip stain but never tried out because I thought the price was a little much for a lip gloss. But after I bought my first one, I realized what all the hype was about, and now I have a whole collection lol (it’s a great Christmas/birthday present to ask for!). I’m obsessed with this lip stain because it doesn’t dry your lips out, the color is beautiful, and legitimately stays on for hours even if you’re eating and drinking.

Y’all I wish I could accurately put into words how much I LOVE these sneakers! I have them in three colors now (black, grey, and white). These are my go-to shoe that I pack on trips because I can wear them on the airplane, I can run in them, or just wear them for walking around town. They are seriously the most comfortable pair of Nikes I own. I told my family about them and now my mom has like 3 pairs, and my sister just got her first pair. They work great for weight training or non-distance running (the longest I’ve ever run in mine is 5 miles). And they’re just adorable and look great with everything.
For years I’d been on the hunt for the perfect dark wash skinny jeans – for those occasions that you just probably shouldn’t have rips in your jeans. I could never find a pair I loved bc I felt like they were either too stiff, or not flattering, or not the right color. I read amazing reviews about this pair of rag & bone jeans so I tried them out…and LOVE them! I wear them ALL the time. They are so flattering and insanely comfortable.
These sunglasses were definitely my splurge purchases of 2016. Michael actually got them for me / let me get them when we were in Rome as my souvenir. I’d wanted this exact pair for forever, and finally decided to go for it. I never had even a tiny second of buyer’s remorse because I wear them CONSTANTLY and they look great with every outfit! If you’re wanting something sporty or trendy or casual…these sunnies are your go to. They are amazingly comfortable and you can’t beat the quality.
Sam Edelman suede slouch boots (also available here)
I had a hard time narrowing down a picture to choose for these boots because I have at least 1,000…because I LIVE in these boots! I love the slouchy look of them, but that at the same time…they can still go with dressy outfits. They have a decent size heel, yet they’re still so comfortable. I walked in these for hours all over NYC a few weeks ago. I also love the gorgeous camel color of them!
This might look like an ordinary black tote, but this bag is a total life saver. My purse collection has gotten slightly out of hand this year, yet this bag is still my go-to. The quality of the leather is amazing, I love that it has an outside compartment, and the size is perfect. You can throw your planner in here, or an iPad, but it’s not SO big to where you couldn’t carry it every day. I also typically go for brown/cognac bags and decided to branch out with the all black…and I absolutely love it.
