You’re probably already well aware by now of my deep love for this striped sweater with the cutest buttons on the side. I’ve posted about it on other social channels a time or two! I love this sweater because it’s perfect for transition type weather. I wore it in Montana when it was freezing, but obviously wore it on a much sunnier day here in Boulder paired with denim shorts! (Also comes in the prettiest coral color).
Which brings me to my next point! If you haven’t found the perfect pair of denim shorts, the search process can be a little daunting. There are SO many options out there with tons of different fits – cut-off denim shorts, mom shorts, button front shorts, boyfriend shorts…the list goes on! So today I just want to round up a few pairs for y’all that I either own, or I’ve tried on and really liked – all at different lengths and price points.
So, this pair I’m wearing today (also available here) is definitely a favorite. I’d say 75% of my shorts are cut-off denim shorts, and I needed a pair with a little more length and a little less distressed. These denim shorts are slightly high-waisted and I love the button front. I’d say they fit true to size (I’m wearing the 25).
BUT, I cannot deny my love for cut-off denim shorts. I have two favorite pairs that I’ll share below:
Striped blue shirt | One teaspoon bandit shorts (also available here and here)
I had my eye on the One Teaspoon shorts for a while..but honestly felt like it was so ridiculous to pay around $100 for super distressed cut-off denim shorts. But I decided to try them out one day (thank you free shipping and free returns!) and as soon as I tried them on…I understood what all the hype was about. I legitimately LIVE in these cut-off denim shorts all spring and summer. I actually have 3 pair now because I wear them THAT much.
There are tons of different One Teaspoon ‘bandit’ styles, but I’ve found most of them to fit/look pretty similar – the wash just might be different. Everyone has different opinions about how they fit, but I’ve found them to be true to size (I’m wearing the 25). Now…onto another pair of cut-off denim shorts I love, just a slightly different fit and a little more budget friendly!
Off the shoulder floral top | Lace-up sandals | High-rise ‘mom’ cut-off denim shorts
This is the only pair of cut-off denim shorts I’ve found that even come close to second place to the One Teaspoon shorts. I LOVE this particular pair of cut-offs though because they are super soft, they have a little bit more length than the One Teaspoons, and they are high rise! I feel like they run slightly small – I got a US 4 (as opposed to my usual US 2 in Topshop).
If cut-offs aren’t your thing though…here are a few other pair of non cut-off denim shorts that I also love, and think have a great fit!
Outfit details: Striped sweater | High-rise denim shorts (also available here) | Suede cut-out booties | Leather handbag | Arrowstack necklace
Hope this little guide helps make your denim short shopping a little bit easier! Have a wonderful Thursday!
