challenging your 'comfort zone' style

Some of y’all might have seen my instagram stories last week that talked about a previous rut I was in with clothing and putting outfits together. I think my style is pretty basic – I love a good t-shirt with jeans, booties, and a cardigan. But recently I felt myself just feeling uninspired and not feeling super confident in the outfits I was putting together. So, I decided it was time to get re-inspired and more bold in my outfit choices!

Whenever I need inspo for blog posts or outfits…I like to flip through the pages of Vogue or some fall fashion catalogs to study what trends we will be seeing this season. I also like to look at ‘new arrivals‘ pages of some of my favorite websites for inspiration. I love looking at Nasty Gal’s site for trend inspo because their clothes definitely take basics to the next level! They also have adorable options for pretty much any style you’re going for – edgy, feminine, boho, etc.

When I talk about ‘getting our of your comfort zone’ with style…by no means do I mean pretend to be someone you’re not. For example…I think my ‘comfort zone’ style would be what I mentioned above: skinny jeans, t-shirt, booties. Recently I’ve challenged myself to get out of that comfort zone, while staying true to my style! For example – this floral kimono is definitely more bold than what I’d mindlessly choose to wear on an everyday basic, yet 100% still my style! Feminine and boho. I also love it because you can wear this kimono in the summer with denim cut-offs, or dress it up over a little black dress with heels!

The beauty of dressing in a way that is true to your style, yet with a more bold approach, is that it brings out a new confidence in you. I truly felt so confident even just walking around Boulder in this fall kimono and boyfriend jeans outfit…as opposed to my typical workout tights and sneakers haha. I think challenging yourself to get out of your ‘style comfort zone’ can make us feel more confident as women, and proud of the outfit we’re wearing. That goes a long way in my opinion!

So I just to challenge you this fall…take your style to the next level, while remaining authentic to who you are! Maybe not everyday…but for your next date night, or girls night out! Maybe for you that looks like pairing your regular outfit with a bold fall lip color, or heading to Nasty Gal to incorporate some new fall trends like this kimono into your wardrobe!

Thanks for reading! Have a great Monday!

This post was created in collaboration with Nasty Gal. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
