SO yesterday I talked all about reasons why I decided to chop my hair…and today I want to talk about all of my hair must-haves! I’ve gotten hundreds (and hundreds lol) of DM’s from you guys asking for me to do a hair tutorial, or about what products I use. I’ve shared a mini tutorial in the ‘highlights’ on my instagram bio and will hopefully share a full video tutorial on here sometime in January. Today though, I want to share every hair product with you guys that I use on a regular basis that, IMO, are the best of the best.
You will quickly find out in this post that I am truly an Oribe girl through and through. I’ve tried at least 25 different hair lines and still always go back to Oribe. Yes, you can find cheaper products on the market but these are (in my opinion) the most nourishing products to hydrate and restore your hair back to health.
This particular shampoo and conditioner from their ‘gold lust’ line is specifically for repairing and restoring. So, if your hair is damaged from heat or color or extensions or anything else…you will LOVE this stuff. It smells amazing and will do wonders for dry or damaged hair!
The only other shampoo + conditioner I’ve found that can compete with Oribe is the Alterna Shampoo and Conditioner. I bought this during the Nordstrom sale because I’d heard such great things, and was not disappointed. I love how my hair feels and looks after I use this, and it also protects color from fading!
This is a relatively new product for me (starting using it about 6 weeks ago), and I knew right away that this would be a new regular for me in my hair routine. This stuff is POWERFUL y’all. What it is: A rejuvenating pre-shampoo treatment balm that melts into hair, deeply moisturizing and repairing while protecting against harsh aggressors such as washing, styling and pollution. This treatment restores softness, shine, and strength to your hair.
My colorist in Dallas (Charleigh @colorbycharleigh) told me she had a client with crazy damaged hair from bleaching it so much, and this treatment brought her hair back to normal! It’s super powerful so only use it once a week at the most, and then once your hair starts getting healthy again…just use it once every 10 days or so. You put it on before you shampoo your hair (on dry hair), and let it set for 10-30 minutes (I do 30 minutes), then rinse it out, and shampoo + condition. Make sure you get it ALL out though, otherwise your hair will feel greasy!
This is probably the best hair mask I’ve ever used (the product I listed above is not a mask, it’s a treatment, which is why you should only use it once every 10 days or so. This product I’m sharing now is a mask). This mask penetrates hair to rebuild each fiber, improve elasticity and fortify, leaving hair soft and full of body and revealing its inner brilliance. I use this once a week for sure. I put it on after I shampoo and rinse, and let it sit on my wet hair for about 10 minutes, and then rinse. Sometimes I’ll also mix it with my conditioner! If you’re wanting to restore your hair back to health (or to keep it healthy), definitely get this mask.
I’ve used this hair oil for years now and keep coming back to it. I put it on wet hair before blow drying. It absorbs into your hair instantly to restore your hair back to its prime. This oil provides thermal protection, won’t weight hair down and detangles and reduces frizz. It also works wonders on dry, damaged and color-treated hair. Basically a miracle worker.
I don’t use this spray everytime I wash my hair, but I definitely use it when I’m wanting extra volume! I spray it on my roots through my ends, and then round brush my hair when i blow dry. This spray gives you alot of volume without making your hair feel too heavy!
I for SURE use this spray everytime before I blow dry my hair. It protects your hair from heat AND speeds up your drying time! MIRACLE. WORKER. This spray also smoothes your hair, repairs split ends, nourishes, softens and strengthens the hair, giving it healthy body and shine. I use this in combination with the above oil everytime I dry my hair!
Okay so y’all have seen / heard me post about this texturizing spray at least 1,000 times now haha and that’s because it might be the most important product in my hair routine (as far as styling goes). Y’all ask me all the time how i get that ‘beach wave’ or textured look to my hair…and I definitely couldn’t get that look without this spray.
This dry texturizing spray will not act as a hair spray – it won’t necessarily make your hair hold curls longer. But, my hair stays curled pretty well so I don’t use hair spray. If your hair DOESN’T stay curled, you should use a hair spray and this texturizing spray.
After I curl my hair and brush through the curls, I spray (alot) of this texturizing spray! Spray it at your roots, spray it through the ends, and then kind of shake your hair out. If you’ve never tried this spray out, I promise it’s 100% worth it. I can’t style my hair without it!
Another question I get at least 100x a day is about which curling I use haha. When I had my extensions / long hair, I used a 1 1/2″ barrel, for just really big loose waves (I don’t like tight curls). Now that my hair is short, I use this T3 1 1/4″ Curling Iron. First of all, I really like that the base is interchangeable – so you can put a different size barrel on the base if you want! I also like that this curling iron heats up fast and stays hot. The main reason why I love this curling iron is because it’s ceramic, so it gives you frizz-free curls and less damaging for your hair!
For a less expensive option, I also really like this Hot Tools curling iron! IMO it won’t necessarily last you as long (you might need to buy a new one every year or 2), but it still works really well!
I’ve had this blow dryer for forever and am completely obsessed with it. It dries my hair faster than any blow dryer I’ve ever used, and because of the technology in this dryer, it’s actually healthy for your hair (which is what I think makes this dryer worth every penny). I’ve had mine for years and it’s still in perfect condition!
I also have this blow dryer which I love as well. I rotate between my T3 and this one…I just typically choose the T3 because I think it’s healthier for my hair!
This is the only brand of hair brush that I use! I can’t even explain why I like it so much – I just love how my hair feels when I use it. It detangles my hair without being TOO rough, and it’s also great with distributing dry shampoo!
I refuse to go on any trip without bringing my round brush! It makes drying your hair so much faster / easier, and is the only way to get some volume in your hair, or help with the part!
I get asked all the time about my favorite dry shampoo – and these two are definitely it. Up until about a month ago, I only used drybar (like, for years). It makes your hair look SO much cleaner, letting you get away with not washing your hair for days!
I recently fell in love with the living proof dry shampoo because I love how my hair looks when I use it! It adds volume and texture, and it also actually cleans your hair by absorbing the oils. I also love how it smells. Both of these are great options for dry shampoo!
SO those are all the hair products that I use and swear by. Below are a few supplements I take that I think really help with hair growth + health!
I’ve done an entire blog post (here) about the benefits of collagen, but one of those benefits is for SURE healthy hair! I put a scoop of this collagen in my coffee every morning, and a scoop in my protein shakes after a workout. The girls in Dallas who do my hair said they couldn’t believe how healthy it looked after I started consistently taking collagen. This will make your hair grow so much faster and stronger! I swear by it, and even take it with me when I travel.
I just started taking these maybe a week ago so I can’t honestly say if they work or not yet haha. But I’m always taking SOME type of hair gummy that has biotin in it, and think that really helps with hair health + growth!
