It’s crazy to think that NYFW 2018 has already come and gone! Michael and I were in NYC for 3 nights for fashion week and also to just do New York things, so today I want to recap our trip with you guys, and also review the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel!
So first, let’s talk about the hotel! This was hands down the nicest / best hotel I’ve stayed at for fashion week before! The location was ideal – around 49th and Lexington which is Midtown area. But also pretty close to Central Park and things that are a little further up! We could walk to tons of thngs we did – like shopping on 5th avenue, and any uber or taxi we took was a pretty short and easy ride!
As you can see from the photos, the hotel is stunning. Everything from the lobby to the guest rooms were completely pristine and just beautiful! When you think of a hotel in the middle of NYC, you typically picture a tiny shoebox – a room big enough for a bed and that’s about it. But our room and bathroom were both really spacious, clean, and comfortable. The room also had one of my favorite hotel robes I’ve ever experienced! I’m a sucker for a good robe haha. We both slept like rocks all 3 nights in the super comfortable king size bed, and also loved the view we had of the city from our room.PIN IT

We also had access to the Club throughout our stay which I highly recommend. This is where I grabbed breakfast before meetings started for the day, and the food was really good! They had fresh fruit, eggs, baked goods, bacon, oatmeal, and more! Not to mention a super nice espresso machine, coffee maker, hot teas, and more. We were both super impressed with the breakfast in the Club. We also used the Club throughout the day – to either grab a quick snack or a drink, or sit down for an hour or so and get some work done. This was a really nice feature of the hotel that we enjoyed every day!

If you’re heading to NYC sometime soon and want a beautiful, comfortable, luxurious hotel in an super convenient location…I definitely recommend checking out the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel!
So, now to recap some fashion week things!
This was my very first fashion week to not attend a single show! We didn’t get there until Saturday and I feel like the majority of the shows I really wanted to go to were on Thursday and Friday. I think going to the shows is a lot of fun but TBH, it’s not super beneficial for my business and I don’t think you guys have a huge interest in seeing story after story of the runway shows! (But, correct me if I’m wrong!).
This year I really tried to plan out my fashion week with two things in mind: 1) what is the most beneficial for my business? 2) what do Michael and I want to do with a few short days in NYC? So! We went to the LIKEtoKNOW.it book launch party on Saturday night! I’m so honored to be featured in this gorgeous coffee table book with hundreds of other influencers, sharing our story of how we got into this industry! I had a blast at the party and it was so fun getting to hang out with some of my favorite girls who live all over the country!
Other than the LIKEtoKNOW.it party…I met with several different brands while I was in NYC. So much of blogging is done solely through e-mail, so I loved getting to meet some of these brands face to face, and hear about exciting campaigns they have coming up, talk about collaborations, etc! Some of my favorite meetings were with Baublebar, Marc Fisher, and a few PR companies that handle some of my favorite beauty brands.
Other than that…Michael and I spent some time hitting up our favorite New York things! [See this post for my New York City travel guide for some of our favorite restaurants in the city]. in addition to the restaurants that I included in that post…we also went to The Smith for brunch, and ABC Kitchen for dinner! Those were two new spots for us and we loved both of them! We also saw Aladdin, shopped a lot, went to Central Park, and met up with 2 of our closest friends who live in Brooklyn.
All in all, it was a super productive, fun, jam-packed, exhausting trip haha but isn’t that always how New York is?! I love fashion week and feel so honored to even be able to attend certain shows or events and use it as a tool to continue to grow this business.
Thanks for reading this post and for following along on all of my fashion week adventures! Hope you guys have a great weekend!
