If you’ve been following me for a while now, you probably already know that Michael and I are currently living in Boulder, Colorado, but we were both born and raised in Dallas! We just moved to Boulder nearly two years ago (which is so crazy to me that it’s already been that long). There are so many things we truly miss about Dallas, but we have truly grown to love living in Boulder for so many reasons. Today I wanted to share just a few reasons why we’re so thankful to be living in Boulder, Colorado!
The first reason we’re so thankful to be living here is related to our marriage. We both feel like our relationship has truly flourished and grown so much stronger since we moved here. We both loved being close to family in Dallas, but there really is something to be said about moving away from friends and family, to really establish your own family as a married couple. We knew NOBODY when we moved here. Literally started from ground zero in the friends department. So, for a while, all we really had was each other! And then once we started making friends, it was something we did together! We had to learn not to constantly turn to family or friends when we needed something, but to first turn to each other, which has strengthened the friendship aspect of our marriage so much. We’re so thankful for how our marriage has grown since we moved here!
The next reasons we’re so thankful to be living in Boulder, Colorado is pretty obvious: it’s just a gorgeous place to live. There are a lot of great things about Dallas, but nature is not one of them haha. It’s pretty amazing to see the mountains every single day when you’re driving to the gym or looking out your bedroom window! When we first moved here I wondered if we would just become immune to the beauty of this place. I haven’t at all! Everytime I see the view of the mountains when I’m driving to the grocery store, it’s a constant reminder of how big our God is. We also love the active lifestyle we get to have here! Michael and I both ski / snowboard, we love hiking, and enjoying the outdoors here has been amazing these last two years.
The third thing I want to share today that we’re so thankful for is our amazing community here in Boulder. Like I said, we moved here knowing nobody. We found an amazing church body here that truly welcome us in with open arms. They threw us a couples baby shower which was a blast, the church body has brought us so many dinners since having Shiloh, given us opportunities to serve in the church, discipled us, held us accountable, and just been the sweetest friends. I’ve come to discover that making friends after college, outside of the friends you grew up with is kind of a weird slash intimidating thing. But we have been so thankful for the friends here that God has brought into our lives! I was pretty terrified to have a baby away from my family in Dallas, but our community here has seriously served us so well, and we are incredibly thankful for that!
Since we’ve moved to Colorado, both mine and Michael’s wardrobe has changed a bit, in that we are all about being casual, comfortable, yet dressing for an active lifestyle at the same time.
