Merry Christmas friends! I hope you’re spending today with your family, cozy at home, opening gifts by the fire! This Christmas season has looked a lot different on the blog than previous years. I was technically on ‘maternity leave’ throughout the holiday season, so…we maybe had less gift guides, less sale roundups, a few less posts, and I so appreciate y’all sticking with me through that so I could have time with my Shiloh girl. To be honest, I was really stressed about going into the holiday season with a newborn. As a “blogger” this is typically my busiest time of year with the highest earning potential. And I was stressed about missing out on that.
Honestly, taking a (small) step back from working 24/7 over these last 8 weeks has really helped put things into perspective for me, and gain new inspiration for the blog, that I can’t wait to share with y’all in the new year! These last 8 weeks have made me really appreciate family, friends who feel like family, and the importance of rest and self-care. Having a holiday season that hasn’t been focused 24/7 on sales and blog posts has also really made me focus on the true reason for this season, which is our Savior Jesus Christ who came to earth, as a baby, to die for our sins.
With Shiloh being a newborn, this Christmas season I had way less time to dedicate towards work and Christmas decorations and shopping. It kind of made Christmas feel a little less “Christmasy” but also really allowed me to focus on family, and on my thankfulness for Jesus. When you take Christmas and strip away the decorations and the shopping and the constant gift guides / sale round-ups…what you’re left with is the true reason for this season. And that reason is constant and unchanging no matter what your holiday season might look like this year. So, in that sense, I am so thankful for a Christmas season unlike any other! And I hope you’re also celebrating Jesus coming to earth over 2,000 years ago, as a baby, to die for our sins…because He loves you that much.
