Last year, around the time of my birthday, I shared 28 random things about myself that you may or may not know! Martha and I thought it might be fun to do again this year. Whether you’ve been following me since day 1 or if you’re new around here…wanted to give you guys a chance to get to know me a little bit better!
one. my middle name is ‘Kay’, after my momma! her name is Rhonda Kay and I honestly feel so honored that she chose ME to be her namesake! in case you’re new around here, my mom is in fact superwoman.
two. my very first retail job was at Hollister lol. my next retail job was at Ann Taylor Loft where I worked for several years during college!
three. I was homeschooled all the way through until 9th grade. [I know what you’re thinking. That’s why she’s such a weirdo].
four. to this day, i sleep with a stuffed bear named Fuzz. I thought that might change when I got married…but, nope. the three of us all sleep in one bed every night lol
five. in college, i majored in apparel merchandising and minored in business. but my junior year i had what i called a ‘quarter life crisis’ and wondered WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE and seriously considered switching majors so I could be a PA one day. my dad sensibly talked me out of it and said if i was in college longer than 4 years, that was on me lol.
six. when i was younger, my dream job was to work with the dolphins at sea world. TBH that’s still kind of my dream job.
seven. after the very first time michael and i ever hung out (we went to Common Grounds in Waco!), i called my mom afterwards and said “I’m calling it now. I think I might marry this guy.”
eight. I started keeping a journal when I was 5 years old. going back and reading those journal entries is pretty hilarious. “jill and i got in a fight today. it was her fault. talk to you later.”
nine. I thought of the name ‘Shiloh’ when Michael and I were in Kauai. I was about 13 weeks pregnant, the name randomly popped into my brain, and never left.
ten. I could eat eggs 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. and sometimes I actually do lol
eleven. speaking of eggs…Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast sandwiches (the canadian bacon ones) are literally my WEAKNESS IN LIFE. i know they’re frozen and probs not good for you at all…but TBH I have one almost every single day of my life.
twelve. I have self diagnosed driving narcolepsy. anytime I drive longer than 45mins…I legit cannot keep my eyes opened.
thirteen. when it comes to shopping…my collection of sunglasses, denim, and sneakers has no limits. but you guys probably already knew that!
fourteen. I can almost verbatim quote all of Father of the Bride I and II, start to finish.
fifteen. I took piano lessons from the time I was 6 years old, until I was a junior in high school. Michael and I don’t have a piano but I still love to play when I get the chance to!
sixteen. I walked down the aisle to the song ‘you’re beautiful’ by phil wickham, and still tear up anytime I listen to it. the best + sweetest day of my entire life.
seventeen. I started blogging full time about 4 1/2 years ago. never in my wildest dreams did I think it could be a full-time job / income for our family, and every day I wake up my heart explodes with gratitude that I get to do what I do every single day. God has been so good and so faithful.
eighteen. I’ve been eating raw cookie dough from the time I was in diapers and I’ve never had salmonella.
nineteen. I ran my first full marathon in December of 2017 and would love to run another one once I’m done breastfeeding.
twenty. speaking of running. I was the only kid out of our whole family (1 of 6) that did not grow up running. i actually hated it! i didn’t start consistently running until probably junior year of college. little by little, day by day, i grew to love it and now it’s my absolute favorite way to stay active and healthy.
twenty-one. I have a semi unhealthy fear of elevators. I slightly panic anytime I get in one.
twenty-two. I absolutely love living in Colorado with my whole heart. and also miss all of my family back in Texas with my whole heart.
twenty-three. Michael and I actually still own our house in Dallas! we’ve kept it as a rental property these past 2+ years.
twenty-four. from the time Shiloh was born until she was about 8 weeks old…I kept telling Michael ‘we can never do this again. shiloh is going to be an only child.’ now that she is 4 1/2 months though i’m all ‘I LOVE BABIES AND I WANT 100 OF THEM!!’. lol we’ll see!
twenty-five. I interned in NYC the summer before graduating from Baylor – in a woman’s clothing Showroom [Pink Tartan]. it was one of the most challenging experiences of my life but also one of the funnest summers of my life!
twenty-six. trader joe’s cowboy bark is like CRACK to me! cannot keep it in the house bc I will legit eat the entire bag in one sitting. with zero regrets.
twenty-seven. I hired my first ever full-time assistant (Martha!) back in August of 2017 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for this business! I can’t imagine doing this everyday without her. she has been a total God-send to me.
twenty-eight. i’ve had this weird problem where i randomly pass out after I get in a hot tub or sit in a hot bath for a long time (or sauna etc, anything of that nature)….for years now. it started in college, I’ve seen a lot of doctors for it, but no one can really figure it out! so, i just have to be super conscious about staying crazy hydrated.
twenty-nine. it daily blows my mind that you guys choose to come to my blog, read about my life, send me encouragement, and engage with my posts everyday! i hope you know how truly grateful my heart is for each and every one of you!

Another fact y’all probably know about me…ever since college, I’ve had a major obsession with Kendra Scott jewelry. I’ve loved seeing her style kind of evolve over the years but still stay true to her brand and who she is. I am LOVING some of the new spring arrivals that I’m wearing in today’s post! The colors are so vibrant and perfect for spring, and like all of KS jewelry…the quality is incredible, so you’ll be able to wear these pieces for years to come! A few of my faves from the spring collection:
Thanks for reading friends! Hope you guys have an amazing weekend!
