PIN ITPIN ITPIN ITAny time a new season rolls around, I have to reevaluate my beauty routine, from my skincare to my hair products. Depending on the weather and what life is looking like for that time of year – if we’re traveling a ton, spending time outdoors, etc. – I have to figure out what my skin needs and what products I can’t live without. Now that spring is in full-swing and Michael and I are about to head to Mexico again, I thought it would be fun to do a round-up of my must-have beauty products for the beach! Some of these are ride or die products I’ve been using for years and have been on the blog before, and others are newer ones I’m super excited to talk about for the first time today! I know a lot of y’all are either on spring break right now or have a beach trip planned soon, so hopefully this post will help you figure out what products to pack for your travels!
I feel like whenever we’re heading to the beach or just spending more time outside in the warmer months, the amount time I’m willing to spend on my beauty routine decreases dramatically lol. I prefer to use fewer products that make a big impact, so I’m not spending tons of time getting ready. Plus, I feel like when I’m on the beach, I prefer to have a ‘no makeup’ makeup look and just a more low maintenance look all around.
One of my top priorities when I’m at the beach is making sure I’m using plenty of SPF + doing everything I can to protect my skin from sun damage. Y’all, I get asked all the time about skincare tips, and this is hands down the most important thing you can do for your skin: use a good SPF every single day! It’s the best anti-aging tool there is. This Moroccanoil sun lotion is my favorite SPF. I love that it’s lightweight and hydrating, so it both protects your skin and moisturizes it throughout the day. It doesn’t have that typical greasy feel a lot of sunscreens do, and it has a nice flowery scent to it!
You also can’t forget your lips need extra protection + SPF any time you’re spending more time in the sun! This sugar lip treatment is amazing because it functions as both a chapstick + a subtle lip tint that’s perfect for the beach. I’ll use it when we’re laying out to keep my lips hydrated, but then I’ll also use it as a lighter lipstick for dinners out to! My go-to shade is ‘candy’ because it’s a pretty bright pink, but I legit love them all!
I always love finding a good face mask to use the week before the beach just to get my skin in tip top shape (since I don’t love wearing heavy foundation/face makeup on the beach). This R + R Mask by Summer Fridays is amazing! It’s a polishing mask loaded with antioxidants to remove dead skin cells and restore radiance to your skin. It just kind of leaves my skin feeling fresh and helps wipe away impurities. I honestly feel like my makeup goes on so much more easily and smoothly after I use this mask. It helps with everything from exfoliations to dark spots and wrinkles. Plus, it has rose flower powder and organ oil, so it smells like a dream!
Like I said above, my beauty routine becomes especially low maintenance when I’m at the beach and honestly, just in the summer in general. I honestly feel like the goal is a ‘no makeup’ makeup look, so I wanna tell y’all how I go about achieving that!
I am CONVINCED every women needs this Charlotte Tilbury tinted moisturizer. It gives you the prettiest natural glow, and gives your skin this airbrushed finish, without using a heavy foundation. It’s so lightweight and the tiniest amount goes a long way. You can apply it with your fingers or a damp beauty blender. Sometimes I’ll use it by itself and then other times I’ll use it as a primer under my CC cream (this one is my ride or die!) to give my skin that dewy, glowy look. Even when I’m not at the beach, this tinted moisturizer is my fave for days when I don’t want to wear makeup, but I still want something to even out my skin.
PIN ITPIN ITPIN ITObviously one of the best parts of the beach is getting a good tan, so I love using this bronzer ( in shade ‘bronze’) to accentuate that. There are a lot of steps in my makeup routine that I nix when I go to the beach, just because I love keeping it quick and more natural, but I always love a good, glowy bronzer. This little compact is perfect because it has the prettiest shimmer and is a bronzer + highlighter all in one. It lasts forever too! Plus, it fits easily into your makeup bag for the plane.
This Hot Lips lipstick is super hydrating and the color is long lasting. My go-to shades are ‘Kim KW’ and ‘Liv It Up’; trust me when I say they are the best! ‘Kim KW’ is more of a nude lip with a satin finish, and then ‘Liv It Up’ is the prettiest pale pink. Both colors perfectly compliment a sun kissed complexion!
Anytime we go to the beach, one of my favorite beauty hacks is bringing products that ensure those ‘undone, messy waves’ without actually having to style my hair. Again, I’m all about keeping it low maintenance when we’re on vacation, so I prefer to let my hair air dry whenever we’re at the beach. This surf spray from Bumble and Bumble is amazing for adding texture and volume to your hair. It helps give you those beauty waves without having to pull out your curling iron or blow dryer. My hair has a very slight natural wave to it, and I love that this salt spray majorly accentuates that. Word of warning: a little goes a long way, so just be sure not to overdo it! I kind of love that about it because it means the bottle lasts me SO long.
This sea salt spray from Drybar is also another favorite when it comes to getting beauty waves! Honestly, I’ll alternate between this and the Bumble and Bumble spray. I love them both! This Drybar one gives such great texture and volume, and I love that it’s also cruelty-free. You apply it to damp hair and that’s it – you’re good to go! It’s so easy, smells incredible, and adds just the right amount of texture/volume for a beachy look.PIN ITPIN IT
