The weather is dropping to below 60 in Dallas lately and I am loving it!! When the colder temperatures arrive, a staple coat or jacket becomes one of the most important pieces of your ensemble because some days it’s the really the major piece of clothing that anyone sees haha!
Today I wanted to share my 5 favorite jacket and coat trends that I can’t live without during the fall and winter, starting with the shacket you see in these photos! I am all about the shacket trend this year. You can wear them in so many different ways, and Nordstrom has a wide variety of styles and fits that I am loving right now! Personally I am a sucker for plaid in the winter and love that this onethis one is a little bit longer / oversized! I also found this gray and black plaid shacket from BB Dakota that would be the perfect wardrobe staple and super versatile!
5 jackets + coats I can’t live without
1. plaid shirt jacket
Like I mentioned above, shackets are one of my favorite trends this year! I love the neutral look like the two listed above, but if you want to add some bright colors to your closet, this luxe, bright red ALLSAINTS piece is stunning!
2. mini leather puffer
I have to confess: I have so many leather puffer jackets that it might be an actual problem haha! They are just so easy to throw on with denim, leggings, over workout clothes, and the list goes on! I ordered this in the black, but I also love the light camel color!
3. suede moto jacket
I think a classic moto jacket is essential in every wardrobe! They’re so chic and also the perfect weight if it’s not too cold outside. You can layer them with dresses, denim, or leggings and immediately elevate your look! I got this suede moto jacket during the Nordstrom Sale, but I also love this suede drape moto jacket that is super similar and comes in a few color variations!
4. long puffer jacket
This long puffer jacket has been my go-to lately for cold morning walks with Shiloh! I love how it comes down to your knees, keeping your body super warm! It’s the perfect puffiness without making you look like a giant marshmallow, and it’s still super flattering! I also found this similar one that has a cinched waist which helps maintain a pretty silhouette despite the puffy style!
5. leather jacket
Last but not least, the leather jacket! I couldn’t leave it out. A true wardrobe staple that you can wear year round with so many looks. I LOVE this madewell leather jacket so much, and I wear it with literally everything. It’s the perfect piece to throw on to make your outfit look edgy and chic! I found this similar one from Topshop that is on major sale right now on the Nordstrom site!
