Earlier this week I shared the 20 items you guys bought the most of (from my posts) in 2020! Today I wanted to round up my personal favorite purchases from last year! Sharing everything from kitchen essentials to designer bags, skincare and more! It was so hard to to pick 20 items since I’m including all categories…but I think these are my best of the best purchases from 2020 – what I love and use the most!
1. get out of your head by jennie allen
I am not being dramatic when I say…this book by Jennie Allen kind of changed my life! I read it this past summer and I already want to read it again haha. I think I highlighted almost every word in it. This book is FULL of truth and such a helpful tool in empowering you to stop the spiral of toxic thoughts we all face every single day. This book reminded me that I have a choice, and I want to choose to walk in security and freedom and not fear and bondage. If you haven’t read it yet, buy it. Buy one for everyone you know haha. So good!
2. caraway cookware set
I’ve shared this non-toxic cookware set with you guys countless times on my stories. Michael and I both said this was a top purchase for us in 2020. First of all – they just look beautiful. Second – literally NOTHING sticks to these pans! It is magical! Since nothing sticks to them that also means they are super easy to clean! Ever since we got these, I dread ever having to use any other pan / skillet because they are so amazing to cook with. And obviously we love that they are non-toxic (free of teflon)!
3. my dream car – BMW X7
I have dreamed of buying a BMW SUV for years and years and finally pulled the trigger about 7 months ago. I test drove pretty much every luxury SUV out there (comparable in size) and the BMW X7 hands down won by a LANDSLIDE – both for me and Michael! I love the size of it, the features, ad it drives like a dream!
4. biologique recherche skincare
During quarantine, I decided to take a chance with my skin because I figured I wasn’t going to be seeing anyone anyway lol so why not try changing up my skincare routine and seeing if it helped the skin issues I was having?! In March or April I changed my skincare routine to 100%, solely use Biologique Recherche products and it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my skin! If you are interested in trying this line out, I buy mine through Rebecca Johnston. I first met her at a spa I went to in CO Springs for a facial, and she’s who initially turned me onto this skincare line. You can DM her if you’re interested in purchasing anything BR and she will help make a skincare routine totally custom to YOUR skincare needs + concerns + goals! Now I mix in a few other products into my routine, but the bulk of my routine is made up of BR products because they have done wonders for the look, feel, and texture of my skin.
5. revision vitamin c serum
This is a product I added to my skincare routine about two months ago and honestly will probably never not have it in my routine. Vitamin C is essential in every skincare routine and this is hands down the most impressive vit C product i’ve ever tried. It has 30% ascorbate meaning it’s VERY potent / concentrated, which will really help smooth your skin texture and brighten your skin tone! It’s not cheap but it’s super affective and no matte what skin type you have, you will benefit from this. I apply every single morning.
6. krewe simone sunglasses
You guys know what a weakness I have for sunglasses. I have a lot of sunglasses and can honestly say…this pair by krewe is in my top 2 for sure. I love the classic shape, the tortoise, and that the frames are big without being TOO big. I got these in austin this past summer on a staycation with Michael too so I love that these sunglasses will also always remind me of that!
7. goyard tote
I splurged on the goyard tote (PM size) this year and it was SUCH a great investment! I’ve wanted one forever but it’s def an investment piece bc of the price. I was nervous that I’d get it and not love it as much as I thought I would. But let me tell ya – I fell even more in love with it the moment I saw it in person and tried it on (and put all my stuff in it right away haha). I LOVE the black and brown color combo, love how much stuff it holds, and the quality is unparalleled. I love that the shape of it feels flexible so you don’t have to worry about weird creases, and the material is super easy to wipe off and keep clean. I’ve carried this countless times since purchasing earlier this year and know I’ll get tons of use out of this bag, for years to come.
8. nike running shorts with built in liner
I’m sure you guys aren’t surprised to see these nike shorts on my list! Legitimately my #1 pair of workout shorts I own and I wish they’d make them in 500 more colors haha (and they are under $50!). I love the built in liner, the length, and how comfy they are! My mom and sister bought them after I raved about them and they love these shorts as much as I do!
9. golden goose purestar sneakers
So I actually haven’t shared these golden goose sneakers with you guys a ton yet because they are a recent buy! But they made my top 20 list because since purchasing them, i have already worn them with SO many different types of outfits – from jeans to dresses to leggings! They have the same comfort + versatility factor that all GG’s do, but they are a pure white – so, more classic + timeless and will literally go with anything! I also love the subtle leopard on the back!
10. bio ionic curling iron
This year, I branched out from the T3 curling iron I’d used for probably 3 years and it was the BEST decision! I have tried close to every curling iron on the market haha and this bio ionic has hands down been my favorite! The longer barrel makes it SUPER easy to curl your hair with (and get the textured messy waves look), and my curls stay for days with this curling iron! The nanoionics in this curling iron also help hydrate and condition your hair meaning it’s less damaging than most other curling irons!
11. defined dish cookbook
If I could only have / use 1 cookbook for the rest of my life, it might be this one by the defined dish. I’ve shared it hundreds of times on my IG / blog posts so I won’t go into too much detail but Alex’s recipes are all delicious + full of flavor + very clean and nutrient ingredients. Tons of whole30 / paleo / gluten free options but also lots of family-friendly meals that everyone in your house will love!
12. free people the way home shorts
Honestly I almost just made “free people movement clothes” one of my top 20 purchases from this past year haha. prior to 2020, 100% of my workout clothes were lululemon (which obviously, I still love). But I branched out this past year and became obsessed with free people movement! I think their workout clothes are SO cute / feel a little bit more feminine + trendy which is fun. These $30 shorts were such a great buy (ended up buying them in 4 colors because I wore them so much). I love the wide waistband and think the fit is so flattering! I wear these in an XS or S! I have both. I probably like how the small fits me more! (Pictured above is the XS).
13. miranda frye jewelry
2020 was also the year I was introduced to Miranda Frye jewelry which you guys know I love and wear every single day! Honestly this has been more than just a ‘favorite product’ for me and a new obsession! I love mixing and re-layering my jewelry in new ways and now feel so naked without it! 14. gucci matte lipstick
This is another new product I just got in December but instantly became a new go-to lipstick for me! This gucci lipstick feels so luxurious, goes on super smooth, and stays on for a really long time without drying your lips out! I LOVE the color “201” because it’s the perfect rose color…for everyday or for going out! It’s a great neutral because it’s not too warm or too cool!
15. ebb to street tank
This tank was such a great lululemon find, that I ended up buying it in 3 colors because I found myself wearing it almost everyday of the week in the summer time! I love the built in bra and even though it’s form-fitting, it’s still very flattering and comfortable! I went up to a size 6 in this, since it fits tight!
16. chanel highlighting fluid
This highlighting fluid has become essential in my makeup routine and I love how versatile it is. You can wear it as a primer, or just use it on specific places you want to highlight (like your cheeks and nose). This gives you the prettiest sunkissed glow and makes all the difference in your everyday makeup!
17. summer fridays lip balm
Like most of you guys, I used to always find myself buying a new lip balm / chapstick anytime I was in target or sephora. I actually got this summer fridays lip balm in a press package and since then…I have not bought (or used) any other lip balm! This feels SO HYDRATING and helped a ton with my chapped lips this winter! It’s not sticky at all either and feels amazing.
We used to have a flywheel “fly anywhere” bike, until they got sued lol and now those at home bikes no longer exist. I was so upset at first but now that we have the peloton…I GET THE HYPE behind peloton! I am absolutely obsessed with this at-home bike and the entire peloton platform. This was the best investment for home workouts and I also love the peloton app – they have interval runs on there, strength classes, yoga, pilates, guided meditation etc! Even if you don’t have the bike, I highly recommend the app!
19. abercrombie high waisted jeans
These abercrombie jeans were probably my most worn jeans of 2020 and the ones I am still reaching for most often! They are a great price point, and I love the vintage look and feel of them! They are skinny without being too skinny and have the perfect amount of distressing. I wear a 26 in these jeans!
20. electric picks jewelry
Electric Picks is another jewelry brand I’ve fallen in love with in 2020. First of all – they are a small business i love supporting because I love their founders and their story! I love the style of their jewelry and that it has a lifetime guaranty on it! I shower in my EP necklaces, work out in them etc and they have never tarnished at all!
