my 6 favorite workout shoes + what I wear them for

Shop

This has been a HIGHLY requested post over the past few months that I’m really excited to share with y’all today. I get DM’s pretty frequently asking what shoes I recommend for Orangetheory vs marathon training vs strength training etc. You guys probably know by now I’m a bit of a sneaker addict haha. So today I want to share with y’all my 6 favorite athletic shoes and what I wear each one for!

Okay if I had to pick one favorite shoe for just 'all around working out / athletic shoe', it would be this pair. First of all, I love how they look, so you can pair them with any workout or athleisure outfit. They are also super lightweight but still have a good amount of cushion. This is my go-to shoe for Orangetheory or interval style workouts where you're kinda doing a hybrid of things. I love running in these (up to like 4 or 5 miles), and think they also work great for strength training because they aren't too bulky. I also wear these when we go for walks. They run a tiny bit small in my opinion so I'd suggest going up a half size.

These shoes are definitely a splurge, and newest to my sneaker collection but I have been LOVING them. Again, I love how these look (they come in tons of colors). They are sooo cushy so if you have a job (ie a nurse) where you are on your feet all day, I think these would be great because they're super comfortable. I wear these for everyday errands, athleisure outfits, and going for walks. I think they are technically a running shoe but TBH I did not love them for running. I know some people do though so I might be weird haha try it and lmk what you think. I also think these run a little small so I'd suggest going up a half size.

I bought these shoes about 4 months ago and they've become a new regular in my rotation. I think these are great for strength training because they have good stability without being too heavy. I also like wearing these for short runs or sprints but I wouldn't wear them for long distance running. They are my go-to sneaker for strength training workouts!

If you've been following me for a while, you've heard me talk about this shoe 100 times haha. This is typically my go-to sneaker whenever I'm going for a run (anything longer than 5 miles). They have the perfect amount of cushion without being too heavy. I've ran a half marathon in these and never had knee issues because I think they provide the perfect amount of support. These run TTS in my opinion.

Okay it took me a while to jump on the APL train because I felt like they were super pricy and I didn't like running in them. TBH I STILL don't like running in them! BUT I LOVE how they look! So I was determined to see what the hype was all about. I think these are actually great for strength training because they are a flat shoe. I also wear mine going for walks with Saylor and I LOVE how they look with any workout or athleisure outfit. So even though I don't run in mine, I have for sure gotten my money's worth - I use them primarily for strength training or everyday! I find these to run TTS.

I trained for my full marathon in this shoe and just bought them in this new color! The Brooks Ghost IMO are the most like, universal running shoe. They are cushy and provide a lot of support, but they are also great for 'neutral' runners (meaning you don't really pronate or supinate). I love the new balance for running as well but if I was training for something like a marathon...the Brooks Ghost would be my first choice.

Side note – I am obsessed with this ribbed legging + sports bra combo. I love that the leggings have a pocket, high waist and don’t ride up or slide down. The sports bra has the perfect amount of support and it’s under $40! I’m a sucker for anything ribbed when it comes to workout clothes!
