my skincare routine: products, treatments, routine and more

Shop

Okay y’all, this post is everything you ever wanted know and MORE about how I take care of my skin! I’m going to share my skincare routine with you – including ALL of the products I rotate between, the products I use daily vs weekly, the treatments I think have helped my skin and more. SO if you care about skincare at all, this post is for you haha. I’m giving myself full permission to nerd out and give y’all ALL the details!

Before I get into my routine, part of my job as a content creator means I am constantly testing out new products and new brands! So my routine changes more often than most people’s haha but the routine I’m sharing with y’all today is like…the core of what I always go back to and some of my holy grail, all time favorite skincare brands.

Also (goes without saying lol) but I am not a dermatologist. But, I have honestly never felt better about my skin! It has been clear and smooth and glowy (and let me tell ya, it has not always been that way). I’ve met with PA’s and skincare specialists and done tons of research and trial and error and this is the routine I’ve come up with that works great for my skin!

I will also share at the end how i would tweak this routine if you have more dry or sensitive skin. my skin type is ‘normal’ and not sensitive!

AM Skincare Routine

step 1: cleanse

Every other step in my routine...I have a few different products I rotate between. But when it comes to cleanser...this is literally the ONLY cleanser I use morning and night. It might take your skin some time to adjust to it but it's the best cleanser I've ever used because it not only cleanses your face but helps to brighten and exfoliate your skin as well! Alpha and beta hydroxy acids + vitamin C = most effective cleanser ever haha. You will be obsessed. Y'all can use code LKS1 to get a free DEJ eye cream with your purchase of $135!

step 2: exfoliate

I love both of these exfoliating pads below – you honestly can’t go wrong with either one. I use one of the below pads every single morning after I cleanse.

step 3: eye cream

I love using this eye cream during the day because I feel like it instantly brightens and depuffs underneath your eyes and also lays really well underneath concealer. It has vitamin C in it which helps to brighten dark circles and caffeine which depuffs!

step 4: vitamin c

I have 3 favorite vitamin c serums I rotate between. Vitamin C is great for anti-aging, discoloration, and also protecting your skin from environmental factors. Everyone should have a good vitamin c product in their routine! You don’t need all 3 of these products – just wanted to share my top 3 vitamin c picks.

step 5: additional serums

This step varies for me day to day. Some days, I just cleanse, tone, vitamin c, and spf. but depending on how my skin is doing, most days i’ll add in one or two of serums below!

order of products

I know order of products can be confusing. As a rule of thumb, I’ve heard you should always apply your serums from thinnest to thickest. So I usually do vitamin C after toning pads, and then (depending on the day), I do overachiever serum, brightening serum, youth serum.

My usual morning routine looks like: cleanse, toning pads, vitamin C, brightening serum, overachiever serum, SPF (which i’ll share below).

step 6: SPF

This is the only other product in my routine I pretty much never stray from. I love that this SPF has a very light / sheer tint so it makes your skin just look hydrated and glowy. It also lays really well underneath makeup but I love to wear it on its own, on no makeup days. I don't use a moisturizer in the morning - just this SPF because it has niacinamide (brightens your skin) and hyaluronic acid (hydrates your skin) in it. So it truly does it all. You need to wear SPF on your face EVERY single day even if you think you won't be in the sun much that day. So crucial for 1) preventing wrinkles and sun damage and 2) the overall health of your skin!

PM Skincare Routine

step 1: double cleanse

I double cleanse at night to first remove all of my makeup, and then to cleanse my face! Sharing the two cleansers I use at night below.

step 2: eye cream + lash serum

I have never been loyal to an eye cream until I found this one. I've just heard so many skincare experts RAVE about it so I decided to give it a try. TBH I don't think you notice a huge difference with eye cream but if it's a good one...it's preventative. This one is s clinically-proven to rejuvenate the total eye area and target drooping eyelids, under-eye crepiness and crow’s feet fine lines and wrinkles. I don't necessarily have any of those issues right now, but by using this eye cream constantly I'm preventing them from happening in the future!

I stopped getting eyelash extensions 6 months ago and started using this lash serum ASAP. I did a lot of research and this was one of the only ones I found that should be safe to use while pregnant or nursing (as always, check with your own doctor) and the reviews were incredible so I decided to give it a try. my natural lashes have grown SO long and look so healthy. People comment on my lashes all the time now and I know it's because this serum has worked it's magic! I apply this to my upper lash lid every night!

step 3: serums

Most nights after I cleanse and do eye cream, I apply brightening serum, youth serum, and retinol. Re-sharing my favorite serums I rotate between below! [The full descriptions are above, in the ‘am routine’ section]

step 4: retinol

Retinol is a crucial step in your skincare routine and helps with so much – the overall texture of your skin, fine lines and wrinkles, preventing breakouts and more. Sharing my fave retinols below! (I only use one of these per night, but wanted to share two options with y’all).

step 5: moisturize

I have two moisturizers I rotate between, depending on how my skin is feeling! [Again, you don’t need both – just wanted to share two options]

This is my holy grail moisturizer. It's one of the few moisturizers I've found that isn't too thick or TOO much for my skin. It's so lightweight but still very hydrating, and also helps to brighten and smooth your skin! Use code LKS to get 10% off!

This stuff is definitely a splurge but...a splurge that you will not regret. I've been using this for close to two years now and it has done wonders for my skin. I use this one on nights when my skin feels more dry or like it just needs more love and it's incredibly hydrating and soothing. Part of the reason why it's so expensive is because it supports cellular renewal and dramatically improves the skin’s appearance!

step 6: lip mask

This is the last step of my skincare routine every night! I love going to bed with my lips feeling full and plump and hydrated and then waking up with super smooth lips! Sharing my two favorite lip masks below.

Weekly Skincare TLC

So above I shared my am / pm routine I do every single day. There are a few products I use just one or twice a week though that have been a huge difference in my skin!

I use these glow peel pads two nights a week, and on nights I use these...I don't use retinol. These are almost like an at-home chemical peel - made to exfoliate the skin by loosening dead skin cells, provide moisture to the skin, help minimize breakouts and uneven skin tone, and prevent fine lines and wrinkles. They are SUPER effective and haven't caused my skin any irritation!

My go to clay mask! Helps to unclog congested pores, clear + prevent breakouts, and make the overall texture of your skin smooth as a baby's bottom! I use this mask twice a week!

I love using this mask if I have like an event or photoshoot where I want my skin to GLOW. It's so hydrating, delivers a burst of vitamin c to your skin, and leaves it so bright and glowy!

I just now got this mask but love it already! This is a GREAT mask to use whenever your skin feels like it just needs a little TLC. If you've been stressed or drank too much or if your skin feels super dry...this overnight mask will make you wake up with the most calm, soothed, smooth skin without being greasy. If you have dry or sensitive skin...you will love this.

skin treatments

I think 80% of your skin is a result of the skincare routine you do morning and night, but I do think treatments can make a big difference too! Here are a few treatments I keep on regular rotation (I get all of these treatments done at skin pharm in dallas and cannot recommend them enough! If you mention my name you’ll get 10% off your service):

  1. Dysport (or botox) – i get dysport in my forehead about every 4 months to help decrease and prevent wrinkles!
  2. Microneedling – I started getting micro needling done about 9 months ago – I think I’ve had 3 treatments so far and omg it has made all the difference in my skin. If you have melasma or acne scarring or discoloration…this treatment helps with ALL of those things. The downtime is very minimal – my skin is usually red the day of the treatment and by the next day looks great! At skin pharm they recommend you get this done every 6-8 weeks for the best results
  3. Gold infusion – this is similar to micro needling but it’s done with a kind of ‘stamp’ that is stamping all of these amazing ingredients into your skin using a micro needling type method. I love gold infusion because there is no downtime and you leave with the prettiest glow. It instantly delivers antioxidants + hydrating ingredients to your skin and you can even include botox in this little cocktail!

finding a routine for YOU

like i said, coming to this routine that i love and that works really well for me took a lot of trial and error. for example, i started off doing my brightening cleanser and toning pads morning and night…but found that my skin was consistently red and dry so I decreased to using toning pads just once a day and my skin loves that routine. so, i’m not saying you should all do exactly what i’m doing but maybe try it out and see where you might need to tweak it based off of your skin type and needs!

in summary

I know that was a ton of information and products! Feel free to bookmark this page and come back to it if you have more questions. If you can only invest in 8 skincare products, make it these….

you can click any products in the collage below to shop!

Like i said i slightly tweak my routine depending on the day, but 9 times out of 10 it pretty much looks like:

am:

  1. revision brightening cleanser
  2. skin pharm clarifying pads
  3. summer fridays eye cream
  4. barefaced liquid gold (vitamin c)
  5. barefaced brightening serum
  6. skin pharm sheer defense SPF

pm:

  1. drunk elephant cleansing butter
  2. revision brightening cleanser
  3. DEJ eye cream
  4. barefaced brightening serum
  5. skin pharm youth serum
  6. retinol (skin pharm or barefaced depending on the day)
  7. skin pharm brightening lotion

I think that about covers it! Let me know though if I missed anything / if you have any questions in the comments below!
