summer hair care necessities

We all know how important skin care is – especially during the summertime because of what the sun can do to your skin. A lot of people though significantly undervalue the importance of hair care! I am as rigid with my hair care routine as I am with skincare, and it’s even MORE important during the summer. Between highlights, heat damage, sun, pool, and more…it’s so important to keep your hair healthy and hydrated. So, today I want to share my hair care necessities, specifically for summer!

First up: the holy grail of purple shampoo and conditioners. If you have blonde hair, or any type of highlights in your hair, a good purple shampoo/conditioner is key to keep those highlights from getting brassy.

I love this purple shampoo and conditioner because they keep my highlights bright and help cut out some of that brassy blonde color the sun can bring out. I use these probably every other time I wash my hair. (I use this shampoo and this conditioner every other time).

Next, I LOVE me a good hair mask! I do a hair mask on my hair once or twice a week, every week. This masque for beautiful color is definitely one of my favorites. It restores hydration to colored/processed hair, and prevents the sun from damaging your color. I rotate between that one and this mudslide nourishing hair mask. This mask nourishes dry, damaged or brittle hair, making it softer, shinier and more manageable!

Just like you need to put moisturizer on your face, it’s so important to keep your hair hydrated and moisturized. My two favorite products I put on wet hair are this nourishing hair oil, and this triple threat split end remedy. I sometimes even put one of these products on the ends of my hair when it’s dry before getting in bed.

The nourishing hair oil penetrates the hair to deeply condition, strengthen and smooth, providing intense nourishment and incredible shine to hair. It also provides thermal protection (so important if you are drying/curling/straightening your hair), but it doesn’t weigh hair down! The oil also detangles and reduces frizz.

The split end remedy is an anti-breakage hair treatment. It seals, repairs, and protects your hair. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the health of my hair since I started using this. (i usually rotate between the hair oil and this product!)

Another summer hair care essential is a good travel blow dryer! Nothing is worse than being stuck with a hotel hair dryer that takes a solid hour to dry your hair. I LOVE this little yellow dryer because it folds up and fits perfectly in a suitcase, but it is SO powerful! Tiny but mighty!

Last but not least for my summer hair care necessities…the perfect styling spray! I love this 3-in-1 tripe sec texturing spray! The price is super reasonable and it gives you great results. I spray this on my hair after I curl it to give it that piecy/textured look. But I also spray it on my ‘day 2 curls’, to give my hair a little refresher! It adds volume, helps hold the curl, and gives your hair the perfect textured look.

Outfit details: blue off the shoulder top | white tassel earrings | lipstick (in ‘pillow talk’)

Hope this encourages y’all to take great care of your hair this summer! Let me know if you try any of these gems out and what you think!
