Can y’all believe Michael and I have lived in Boulder for over 7 months now?! I know people say the older you get, the faster time flies…but these have for sure been the fastest 7 months of my life. I’ve loved sharing this journey of moving with you guys, so today I thought I’d give a little update on how we’re liking Boulder and handling a totally new city.
First of all (I’m sure you know this already from following me on social media)…we absolutely love living in Boulder. It’s pretty much polar opposite than Dallas in every way – the mountains, political status, the way people dress…and pretty much everything else! It’s honestly been so refreshing to be in an environment that’s completely different than what we were used to. Also, I love feeling zero pressure to ever get all dressed up and have my hair/make-up done everywhere I go haha. I legit live in workout clothes and only do my hair and make-up if we’re shooting for the blog! It’s so nice! The environment here is just way more casual, laid back, and natural than Dallas is.
We also LOVE the active lifestyle in Boulder. I feel like every day we are either going for walks, hikes, bike rides, or working out. Living in Boulder makes you WANT to be active and be outdoors, and Michael and I both love that aspect of it.
We’ve found a church in Boulder that we absolutely love and are doing our best to plug in + meet people there. Traveling has definitely made that tough, because I feel like we’re only in Boulder for a week at a time, at the most! To be honest, this whole traveling thing has been a huge learning process for me. When I first added ‘travel’ to the blog, I pretty much jumped on any travel opportunity I could get. If the dates on the calendar were open, I would fill them. Even though I LOVE traveling and it’s become a part of the blog now…I’m learning my limits with it. I’m learning that I don’t have to say yes to every opportunity that comes my way. I’m learning the importance and the beauty of being home – having a consistent schedule, sleeping in my own bed, going to church every sunday, etc. So, we still have a lot of trips coming up this fall…but trying to slow things down a bit on that front, to just enjoy Boulder and where we’re at!
Before we moved to Boulder, so many married couples told us ‘moving away for a while will be one of the best things you’ll ever do for your marriage’. And I’ve gotta be honest…it really has been amazing. I had a lot of fears: “what if we get sick of each other because we won’t have friends for a while? what if one or both of us gets homesick?” etc. Even though we’ve only been here 7 months, I love Michael in a way different way now than I did when we were in Dallas. Our marriage feels so much stronger, so much more fun, and I think we’ve just grown so much closer to each other – as best friends, and as a family.
Overall, we are absolutely loving Boulder and I could not be more thankful for this incredible season of life. Living in a new city has for sure presented its own challenges – I miss my family like crazy, starting from square 1 with new friends is never easy, blogging in Boulder is WAY different than blogging in Dallas…but overall, I wouldn’t trade our experience for anything and it’s 100% been worth each challenge that has presented itself in this journey.
Outfit details: silk black tank | distressed skinny jeans (similar here) | sole society leather tote | tortoise sunglasses | black + gold earrings | similar sole society scarf | sole society suede booties
On a completely unrelated note…I wanted to share this outfit with y’all today for a few reasons. 1) I am obsessed with black and tan, or black and brown together. I think it’s such a classy and feminine combo. 2) this is an awesome option for a fall outfit, if you’re living somewhere where the temperatures haven’t dropped yet. These sole society booties are such a fall staple – they literally go with everything, they’re really comfortable, and under $100! And if it’s still in the 70s-80s where you live…you can totally wear them with shorts and a tee, or a simple t-shirt dress to get a fall look!
And I am OBSESSED with this camel scarf. It’s not itchy at all, it’s super soft, and it’s not too hot. The quality also feels amazing for a really good price point + I know it will go with everything this fall!
Thanks for reading y’all! I hope you’re having a great week!
