Last week Michael and I took a semi last-minute trip to the Bahamas and stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian for 4 nights! Several of you DM’d me saying you were thinking about going there for your honeymoon or another trip and requested a review. So today I’ll be sharing my Sandals Royal Bahamian review with y’all!

About the resort

Sandals Royal Bahamian is located in Nassau, Bahamas and is probably 10-15 minutes from the airport which is so convenient! Sandals resorts are all-inclusive which means during your stay, all of your food and drinks are already paid for – and they are unlimited! Michael drank pina coladas by the pool or on the beach all day everyday lol and loved it. We like all-inclusive resorts because once you’re there, you’re not worried about looking at menu prices or splitting meals to save money. It’s nice not to have to give that a thought once you’re on your vacation!

What we loved about the resort

The Bahamas are just beautiful. You would not believe how crystal blue the water is! I couldn’t stop taking pictures of it. If you’re looking for a beautiful beach for your next vacation, definitely check out this Sandals location!

One of our favorite parts about this resort was the private island that Sandals owns right across from the resort. There’s a ferry that will take you over to the private island throughout the day, and we did this 2 out of our 4 days at the resort! The island is absolutely gorgeous, and has a restaurant there open for lunch and dinner. The island was so peaceful and quiet, and there’s great snorkeling there too!

We also really enjoyed all of our dinners at Sandals! There are 10 different restaurants on property so you have a lot of choices. We ate at the seafood restaurant, japanese, french, and caribbean-inspired restaurant and loved them all! My favorite was Gordon’s on the Pier (seafood) and the dessert at Crystal Room! We also got dessert at the pub on property two different nights because I loved their bread pudding so much haha. With an all-inclusive resort (in my opinion), you typically don’t expect 5 star meals, every single meal. But, having said that, for an all-inclusive resort, we thought our dinners were really good!

Michael and I also thought the staff here were very friendly! Everyone always seemed to be smiling, friendly, and in a great mood. At restaurants, we never had to wait super long for our meals, and all of the bartenders were always so nice. We loved the staff here.

Sandals resorts do a great job with entertainment! If you like that on your vacations, you will love Sandals. We did karaoke two different nights, went to a dancing show one night, and went to the piano bar one night. They always had some kind of entertainment going on and it was a lot of fun.

I didn’t realize before this trip that the resort was adults-only [because I didn’t see that on their website], but I’m pretty sure it is because we didn’t see any kids haha. So, we liked the adults-only aspect of the resort as well!

Things we weren’t thrilled with

For those of you who avidly follow my travel posts, you might have noticed this trip did not include my regular room tour on IG stories. Our room here wasn’t anything great, and Michael and I both found the bed kind of uncomfortable (and not sure the AC was working at night). For a “5-star hotel”, we thought the room was pretty subpar. (Which, wasn’t a big deal at all because we didn’t spend much time in there! Just trying to give y’all a full recap of the trip haha). Our room didn’t have a great view and everything seemed kind of dated IMO.

Our dinners were good, but the food at breakfast and lunch was just so-so. There weren’t a ton of options for breakfast and lunch (even at the buffet) and what we did have, we were both kind of ‘meh’ about it.

This kind of goes along with our room – but we found the grounds of the resort overall to be kind of dated and not what you’d expect to see at a 5-star resort. Don’t get me wrong – they were fine! But, nothing spectacular in my opinion.

[I feel so weird even writing these things haha because we truly enjoyed are stay and are so thankful for such a great trip! Just want to a share a completely honest and transparent review for any of you thinking about going to Sandals Bahamas!].

Overall, we loved our stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian. I was really wanting just 4 days with my husband to press pause on life, lay on the beach, and celebrate life together just the two of us before our baby girl gets here! The past few months for us have been pretty hectic with buying a house, moving, hosting people, work stuff, etc. And this trip was a perfect time to just relax, do nothing, and have nothing on the to-do list, in a beautiful location! If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort and a beautiful beach, you should definitely check this place out! It’s also a great babymoon destination because the Bahamas are zika-free (which seems impossible to find these days!).

Have any of you guys stayed at a Sandals resort before? What did you think?! What’s been your favorite location?
