grand velas los cabos resort review

Shop

last week we took one of my all time favorite family vacations we have EVER been on – to grand velas los cabos, with both of the girls! i shared details + glimpses of the resort on IG & stories throughout our trip but today i wanted to do a full review of the resort for you guys, in case you’re also contemplating a family vacation this summer and looking for an amazing resort!

if you’ve been following me for a while, you know we LOVE a good mexico vacation and an all-inclusive resort. we have been to LOTS of different all-inclusives in mexico and let me tell ya…grand velas far surpassed them ALL (which is saying something!). from the moment we checked in, until we were loading up in the car to head back to the airport, our expectations were BLOWN out of the water by this resort.

one of the things we loved about grand velas los cabos – we got a direct flight to cabo from dallas, and then it was only a 30min drive from the airport! super easy to get to. the resort arranged transportation for us (with carseats) so the process was seamless and stress free.

also just a side note about cabo – we LOVE cabo and actually prefer it over cancun. the weather in cabo isn’t nearly as hot or humid as cancun and the ocean / beach is just BEAUTIFUL!

food + restaurants

alright hear me out – i’m sure when you hear the words ‘all-inclusive’ you instantly think ‘sub par food’, and that has been our experience at a few different all-inclusives. but LET me tell ya – the food at grand velas was NEXT. LEVEL. literally every restaurant we went to – including the breakfast buffet or lunch by the pool – was a 10/10. the resort has SO many different restaurant options – from italian to mexican and even a Michelin star restaurant (for adults only) and all of them blew our expectations out of the water. (and shiloh loved them too haha and she’s a super picky eater).

one night michael and i utilized the babysitting services at the resort and went to the resort’s adults only michelin star restaurant. we had an 8 course tasting experience menu and literally every single course, our minds were BLOWN at how delicious and intricate every single bite was. i HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation at Cocina de Autor while you are there!

mexico resort review

i really don’t think i could pick a favorite restaurant at the resort because we truly loved EVERY single meal. the breakfast buffet had so many incredible, fresh (and healthy!) options. we had delicious ceviche by the pool, bone marrow appetizer at velas 10…i could go on. but grand velas hands down had the BEST food we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive resort (and better than tons of non-all-inclusive resorts we’ve been to as well). they really took things to the next level!

kid-friendly / family vibes

grand velas is a super family friendly resort with SO many incredible activities + amenities for kids! from the moment we got into our room, it was set up with everything we needed (and more!) for lyla and shiloh. they had a bottle warmer in the room, a bib, a high chair, a crib, a stroller, a fun little tent for shiloh, kid snacks and more! it was incredible and made traveling with kids SO much easier.

the REALLY amazing thing about grand velas though is their kids club! they have an INCREDIBLE calendar of activities everyday for kids from games like mermaids and sharks in the pool, a cooking class, seashell decorating, face painting and so much more! so michael & i got to have a blast with shiloh in the pool and on the beach but then every so often she’d ask to go to the kid’s club and do whatever activities they had planned and she had a BLAST! she learned how to make her own pizza one day in the cooking class and told me all about it!

the staff was also just so friendly with kids. they were always interacting with lyla, asking shiloh if she wanted another strawberry ‘daquiri’, inviting her to come to kids club activities…they were so kind and helpful at restaurants also!

(if you are going to grand velas without kids though – don’t worry! there’s a whole separate pool + 2 entirely separate restaurants that are adults only! i would honestly love to come back here even without kids!)

in addition to kid’s club – grand velas also has babysitting services you can use! so shiloh could go to the kid’s club for free (your kid needs to be older than 4), but if you have a kid younger than 4 you can pay a babysitter hourly to watch your baby! we utilized this one night at the resort so michael and i could go to dinner and we had an incredible experience with it and felt very safe with their staff!

room / pool / hotel grounds

as you can see in the photo below, the hotel grounds here are absolutely STUNNING. i feel like my camera roll ran out of space so quickly because i could not stop taking photos. our room had the most stunning view of both the pools and the ocean. the flowers here were unreal and everything felt very clean and well-kept.

we LOVED the room we stayed in and had more than enough space for the 4 of us. we stayed in their family suite so shiloh and lyla actually slept in a separate room from us which was so nice haha. and like i mentioned – our room had a beautiful view of the ocean where i drank my coffee each morning!

another thing we loved about grand velas is the fact that they had SO many pools – 1 adults only pool and then 2 other pools + a splash pad area for kids. so you didn’t have to worry about not being able to find a seat or having to reserve a chair at the crack of dawn. there were more than enough chairs and the pools were SO huge! there were also swim up bars in each pool, which shiloh loved haha.

grand velas also has a super nice gym and a STUNNING spa!

service

the service at grand velas los cabos blew me away and i literally had ZERO complaints whatsoever! whether it was our server at the pool who was so helpful and so quick to bring us what we wanted, or our dedicated associate who was texting me throughout the entire trip in order to make sure we had everything we needed…the service here was TOP notch. every staff member was so friendly, helpful, respectful and kind! and really made our experience feel SO lux and relaxing.

ocean

shiloh absolutely LOVED playing on the beach every single day – searching for sea shells and watching the giant waves roll in! we couldn’t get in the ocean because of the tide but that really didn’t bother us at all! we still went for walks on the beach and played there every single day. and the ocean there is BEAUTIFUL – the color of the water and the huge waves!

clearly both michael and i cannot say enough great things about grand velas los cabos – especially if you are traveling with kids! it’s one of the most (if not THE most) luxe, beautiful all-inclusive resorts we have ever stayed at. and we were truly so impressed with everything from their kid amenities, the food, the service, and everything in between!

let me know if you have any other questions about the resort and i’d be happy to answer in the comments below! thanks for reading!
