wellness wednesday: valentine's day edition

In my experience, I’ve found most people have pretty strong feelings about Valentine’s Day. They either absolutely love it, or they STRONGLY dislike it. (Personally, I love it, but that’s not the point!). Whether you are single, dating, married, “kind of” dating, or anything in between…I want to challenge you ALL to something this Valentine’s Day – no matter what your relationship status is!

I think a lot of people don’t like Valentine’s Day either because they don’t have a significant other to celebrate with, or they do, and they feel like their boyfriend/S.O. doesn’t do a good enough job on vday / doesn’t measure up to their expectations. Whether you love valentine’s day or really don’t like it…I want to challenge each and every one of you to treat YOURSELF this Valentine’s Day. Be intentional on this holiday to do somethig for you, show yourself a little bit of love & self care! For today’s wellness wednesday post, I’m going to share a few different ways you can #treatyourself on this holiday of love that’s just 8 days away now!

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of treating yourself on Vday: go all out with your self care routine! Do you have a date planned for next Thursday night? Are you staying in? Either way, do your “all out” getting ready routine. You know what I mean! Exfoliate your face and body, shave, put on your favorite self tanner, do a face mask, a hair mask…the whole 9 yards. If you have a date on Thursday night, allow yourself TONS of time to do your “full out” get ready routine. Pour a glass of rose while you get ready. Make it a whole event that you truly enjoy and feel your absolute best about. If you DON’T have a date planned that night, then don’t worry about the makeup part! Just do your self care routine, hang out in your robe, enjoy a glass of rose and a bath…make a WHOLE night out of it! If you’re feeling extroverted or social, invite some girlfriends over to face mask and chill with you! [Personally, I love a good solo night every now and then though!]

Another way you can treat yourself this valentine’s day: do something that makes you happy that you don’t do often! Do you love massages but feel like you can never justify them? Make that a priority on Vday – even if you have to go on your lunch break! Does curling up with a good book totally relax you + put you in your happy place? Make time for that on valentine’s day! Even if it’s just for 30 minutes after work! Do you love to cook a yummy meal in your kitchen but haven’t made the time to do that lately? Get to the store, open a bottle of wine, and have at it in your kitchen! Think of something that makes YOU happy that you don’t make time for on a daily basis, and make time to do that on valentine’s day! Go get a blowout at drybar, get a mani/pedi, go get a facial…it can be something as simple as shopping at Lululemon haha just whatever makes you happy!

The next way you can treat yourself on Valentine’s Day this year is pretty obvious: gift yourself a little something! I’ve rounded up tons of adorable gift ideas you can either snag for yourself, or give to a girlfriend! Treat yourself, and also help brighten someone else’s vday this year with any of the gift ideas below!

So this Valentine’s Day, instead of wallowing around focusing on the fact that you don’t have someone, or no one is giving you a gift, or your husband didn’t do a good enough job…take charge of what your Valentine’s Day is going to look like, and treat yourself! While you’re at it, treat some of your girlfriends too by surprising her with one of the cute gift ideas above! I know it can feel so selfish to take time for yourself or to “treat yourself”…but taking care of yourself is SO important y’all! Take time to do that this Valentine’s Day.

Love you guys and so thankful for all of you!
