paradisus los cabos resort review!

Happy Monday friends! About two weeks ago, Michael and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary in Cabo, at a Paradisus all-inclusive resort! Some of you might remember I did a girls trip with my mom and sister at Paradisus Cancun last year (see my review here), and had the BEST time! Since we loved Paradisus Cancun so much, Michael and I wanted to try out their Cabo location for our anniversary trip. Today I’ll be giving you ALL the details about the resort and giving you my honest review!

Like I do with all of my resort reviews, I will break everything down into categories – the room / grounds, food, and service. Before I get into all the details though, I will say…Paradisus Los Cabos wasn’t necessarily our favorite all-inclusive resort we’ve ever been to. I always want to share very honest reviews with you guys, and this experience just wasn’t the best! It wasn’t awful by any means, but it wouldn’t be the very first all-inclusive resort I’d recommend to you. There were definitely still great things about the resort and the trip though! I’ll explain what was great, and the not so great parts below!

First of all, Paradisus Los Cabos is a quick 20-30 minute drive from the airport which was so nice! We had a private SUV take us from the airport to the hotel and that part was seamless. Once we arrived though, our check-in experience left us a little underwhelmed! Typically when you check in at these 5-star all-inclusive resorts, you expect something special – a welcome cocktail, a special greeting, or something to just make you feel very welcome and get you excited for your vacation. We arrived and went to the family concierge to check in and that wasn’t really our experience. We checked in and then went to our room, which was pretty basic and bland, when you have 5-star resort expectations. Again, it wasn’t bad by any means, but it definitely wasn’t great! At any all-inclusive resort we’ve been to, they typically have the room stocked with beer, wine, and liquor. Our room only had a few beers in it, and our family concierge told us that’s all they provide in the rooms. The room did have a crib in there for Shiloh ready to go which was nice! [Also want to clarify – this wasn’t my experience with my room at Paradisus Cancun! That room as super nice and had a huge balcony with an amazing view]. You might have noticed when we got to the resort I didn’t do my typical ‘room tour’ I usually do on stories…because there honestly wasn’t much to show y’all!

We also didn’t know going into this trip that you have to make dinner reservations at the beginning of the trip, for dinner every single night. We had some issues with dinner reservations. We arrived on our very first day around 11am and they told us everything was completely booked, and the only restaurant we could eat at was the Italian restaurant. (Neither one of us really wanted to get Italian at a Mexican resort, but apparently had no other option). We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the first night and the food was pretty awful to be honest. If you go to this resort, definitely pass on the Italian restaurant haha. The next night, our family concierge told us he made reservations for us at the Asian restaurant. We got to the restaurant at our reservation time and the hostess told us they didn’t have a reservation for us and they were full / couldn’t get us in. She ended up squeezing us in but because the restaurant was full…our dinner took well over 2hrs, which you know with a baby is not ideal haha. The food at this restaurant was better than the Italian restaurant, but still not great. So if you are going to Paradisus in Cabo, I recommend calling ahead of time and making your dinner reservations for the entire trip, before you arrive!

The other issue we ran into was finding chairs by the pool. One morning Michael got up at 8am to go down to the pool to reserve chairs and by 8am EVERYTHING was already taken! After that, he legit set his alarm for 4am to get us chairs by the pool and even then…75% of the chairs had already been reserved. So if you want chairs at the pool, you legit need to wake up before sunrise to find a spot haha – that was our experience at least, but we were also there during a really crowded time.

I WILL say though – the trip definitely got better the longer we were there! At the beginning of the trip, we went to the main buffet for breakfast, which at the Cancun location was SO GOOD! This buffet was not great though – they had very limited options available and what they did have wasn’t very good. Even their fruit options were really small – only cantaloupe and honeydew, and didn’t taste very fresh. So the next morning we went to Gabi on beach and tried their breakfast buffet and it was much better! They had great Mexican options, an omelet station and a better fruit selection. This restaurant was also a great lunch option. Somedays they had a really good buffet but they also had a great menu (with a lot of seafood options) you could order from. I really liked this restaurant!

dinner at Gastro was amazing!

The dinners we had on our last 3 nights at the resort were all really good too! On our anniversary, we ate at Market Grill and the chef prepared a really special dinner for us. Dinner that night really was such a special experience and the staff did an amazing job making it a memorable night! We also ate at Gastro our last night – which is their Micheline star restaurant. It’s the only restaurant on property that actually costs extra…but the food and service was AMAZING! In my opinion, it’s worth it to pay for a really nice dinner one night!

Later in the week the staff also surprised us and brought a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room to say happy anniversary which was so sweet! They popped in with little touches like that throughout the trip which was very thoughtful! The grounds of this resort were also really pretty – I’ll share some photos of some of my fave cute “instagrammable” spots below!

So, even though Paradisus Los Cabos might not have been our favorite all-inclusive resort, if you are looking for a kid friendly all-inclusive resort in Cabo, this is definitely a good option! Our experience there wasn’t terrible by any means…it just wasn’t really a 5 star resort in my opinion. But, if you’re wanting to try out a Paradisus resort…again, I LOVED the Cancun location and highly recommend that one!

Have you stayed at a Paradisus resort before?! What was your experience? Favorite location?

Thanks for reading friends! Hope y’all have a wonderful week!
