As much as I love fashion and a chance to dress up every now and then…day in and day out, I am a jeans and a tee kinda girl at heart. I’ve never been one to overdress for an event. In fact, I try to do whatever I can to get away with jeans at almost any event haha. Recently I’ve had a few happy hour events to go to and loved finding new ways to make a pair of ripped jeans a little bit dressier! I love this style because 1) I love jeans 2) you don’t feel the need to go out and buy a new ‘fancier’ outfit and 3) this gives you kind of an ‘effortless’ look, in a setting where it seems like everyone goes ALL out with their hair and makeup and outfits…which I think is cool, you know? You kind of stand out! So today I wanted to share a few tips with y’all on how to make distressed jeans and a tee seem a little fancier!
When you’re trying to make distressed jeans look a little dressier, it’s ALL about the accessories. One of the reasons why I love Kendra Scott so much is because her jewelry looks beautiful with dresses for an evening wedding, but they can also INSTANTLY dress up any super casual outfit…making a pair of distressed jeans all of the sudden appropriate for happy hour events or a nice dinner! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know her jewelry is a STAPLE in my wardrobe – whether I’m heading to a cocktail event or wearing an everyday “jeans and a tee” type of outfit. I love pairing some pieces from her new fall collection with casual looks like this one today to instantly make the look more “date night” appropriate. These gorgeous statement earrings take this basic cardigan from an everyday cozy cardigan to a chic, dressed up look and i love it! The earrings come in several colors but I LOVE this mix of rose gold with black!

Another tip for making casual pieces in your wardrobe look dressier is thinking of ways outside of the box to wear them. The cardigan I’m wearing here is the perfect cozy piece for fall to wear with denim or loungewear…but it becomes more if a date night look when you wear it as a shirt! I just buttoned it all the way up, and didn’t wear a shirt under it, and you’ve instantly got an easy fall date night “top”!
I also love pairing a chic pair of pointed toe flats with ripped jeans to instantly give the denim a more elevated look. These jeans take on a totally different look when you pair them with chic flats vs a pair of sneakers. Simply by switching out your shoes, the jeans can go from casual weekend wear to “date night ready” in a second!
