Oceana Santa Monica Hotel Review

Hey hey. Michael here. Lauren gave me the reigns to her website again, so I’m here to tell you about honestly one of the cutest hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Yeah I said cute. It was cute. Don’t @ me.

Recently we went to LA for some business meetings and to see family and friends that live in the area. We stayed at the recently remodeled Oceana hotel in Santa Monica and were blown away. Once an old apartment complex on the beach, this hotel with its new $25 million renovation is stunning and unique.

picture perfect views

Guest suites surround a quiet, picturesque pool and lounge area. Whether you’re out swimming in the heated pool, drinking wine by the firepit, or just wanting a pretty place to take a picture, you’ll find yourself forgetting that the beach is across the street and rather just wanting to stay in the hotel.

The picturesque scenery doesn’t stop in the courtyard though. Oceana put a lot of thought and work into their guest rooms. They look stunning, they’re spacious for families, and most importantly, their beds are extremely comfortable. We’ve been in pretty hotel rooms before, but if the bed and pillows aren’t comfortable, it’s not worth it. The absolute cherry on top for me (Lauren would disagree, but this is my post so she doesn’t get a say) is the ability to actually control your thermostat and crank the temperature down! Too many hotels have a thermostat that’s more of a placebo than an actual working unit. Not so with Oceana. If you want a freezing cold room, you get a freezing cold room.

top notch dining experience

At first, we were a little skeptical to eat at the hotel restaurant since LA has such good dining options, but Shiloh was with us and there were several times when we needed a convenient place to eat. Man were we pleasantly surprised. The hotel restaurant was fabulous. Even if you don’t stay at this hotel, if you’re in the area I would highly recommend it. Ask for Frankie! He was the best. Additionally, the restaurant will create a picnic for you to take to the beach upon request. How cool!

 unbeatable location

Location is everything in LA. Oceana sits right on the beach and is only a mile from the Santa Monica Pier and great shopping. If you don’t have kids with you, there are plenty of electric scooters and bikes to easily get around if you don’t want to walk. With the always beautiful weather, you’ll love being so close to so many great fun outdoor areas.

The next time you’re in LA, Lauren and I HIGHLY recommend the Oceana hotel. Even if you don’t stay here, be sure to swing by and check it their new renovations. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
