Happy Friday friends! (At least, I think it’s Friday haha). I don’t know if you guys feel this way, but there seems to just be a heaviness in the air with everything going on. I’m doing my best to maintain a positive mindset but the weight of what’s going on in our world can definitely start to wear on me. So today I wanted to share 3 simple things that have been helping boost my mood lately!
1. Getting ready for the day
Let’s be real. We are all trapped inside pretty much all day everyday, not seeing anyone other than our spouse or toddler lol. It’s way too easy to stay in pajamas with dirty hair and ‘sulk’. Recently, I’ve been putting on a little bit of makeup, maybe adding some dry shampoo to my hair…putting on my favorite everlane jeans, and it just helps me feel SO much better and ready for a great day! Even if it seems silly, because you won’t see anyone that day, I really think “getting ready for the day” (whether that means tinted moisturizer and dry shampoo, or a full face of makeup) will really improve your mood and productivity!
I don’t know about you guys but music can TOTALLY set the tone for my entire day! Recently, when I’ve been getting ready for the day or going for a run, I’ve been really selective about the music I’m putting in my ears. I’ve been listening to my worship playlist alot on Spotify (you can search for me! laurenkaysims) and also loving the “mood booster” playlist on Spotify! For me, listening to happy + upbeat music, or my worship playlist just gets my mind right for the day. Michael and I will turn on music while we cook dinner, or I’ll listen to it while I’m getting ready for the day, and this type of music really helps boost my mood!
3. Retail therapy
Okay, I’m not encouraging you guys to just go crazy and buy a bunch of things you don’t need…BUT I have found online shopping to really help boost my mood while we are all stuck at home! I’ve still been smart with my purchases – I’ve picked out a few things from Everlane that I’m sharing with you guys today. But something about ordering new clothes online and then looking forward to receiving your order in the mail really helps boost your mood IMO!
I know so many of you guys have had trips canceled, weddings postponed, etc…so it can be hard to know how to shop right now. My advice for online shopping? Buy classic pieces you know you will wear over and over again, whether you are taking that trip or not. Whether you are going to that wedding or not. I absolutely love that when I buy from Everlane, I know I will wear these pieces year after year, season after season. These white skinny jeans for example are under $100, amazing quality, and something I will wear 100 times this year!
