While we were in last CO last week, I not believe how many DM’s I got about what to pack! So I wanted to dedicate an entire blog post today on what to pack if you are heading to Colorado (or the mountains) for a summer or fall trip!
One of the reasons why I love CO so much is that everything is so casual. So, packing is really easy because you don’t need anything fancy, even for nicer dinners! I’m going to share with y’all exactly what I packed for Telluride last week. (The lows were around 48 early in the morning, highs were usually in upper 70s. aka perfect haha)

looks for travel + lounging
Since we had the babies with us on this trip, we spent a decent amount of time in the house. So, I made sure to pack some comfy loungewear that I could also go out and about in!
I LOVE this set so much. It’s oversized and roomy and comfy and could definitely be worn in or out of the house.
I wore this outfit for our flight back from Colorado and LOVE this oversized tee so much. If you’re short, it could be worn as a dress but I loved pairing with biker shorts.
These shorts are SO insanely comfy and I love the longer length. Also, I recommend packing a pullover like this one because you can wear it with anything (loungewear, workout clothes, or denim)!
looks for hiking + activities
I highly recommend bringing a good pair of bike shorts on this trip because you’ll get tons of use out of them. I love this pair by vuori because they are a good length, and they were great for all of our hikes + lounging around the house or athleisure type outfits!
I also recommend packing some type of ballcap you can wear when you’re outside to protect your face from the sun! The sun in CO is very intense (so make sure to wear sunscreen as well).
I borrowed my mom’s hiking shoes on this trip because mine didn’t come in time ha but i LOVE this pair by on cloud! Having ankle support on your hiking shoes (especially if you are doing challenging hikes) makes all the difference in the world!
I wore this long sleeve shirt SO MUCH in CO. It was the perfect layer to wear if it was cooler in the mornings, or on top of a mountain, without being too hot! It was really breathable and I also love the crop length.
I was also so glad I brought these bike shorts by FP. They were super comfy and I love the longer length. And I got a ton of use out of this crop too – you can layer it underneath jackets / long sleeve tees but it’s also really cute on its own. It doubles as a sports bra and tank all in one.
I also recommend bringing some type of flannel shirt like this one on your trip to the mountains. It’s a great layer + looks adorable with bike shorts while hiking, but you can also pair with denim for dinner or lunches out!
For workout shorts, I LOVE this pair from amazon and they are under $30. If you’re going to CO in august or september, definitely bring a pair of shorts like this because you’ll get pretty hot on your hikes!
This look was my go-to each morning when I got up to walk! With the time change I was waking up SO early, so it was the perfect chance for me to get outside and have some alone time in the fresh air. The temperature in the morning was magical and under 50 degrees, so I was so glad I packed this Free People jacket. One of my favorite jackets ever! So lightweight and easy to throw in your suitcase.
I’ve also mentioned it a few times, but Vuori is an activewear brand that I am obsessed with! I love these leggings for athleisure or working out. I also have the bike short version and they’re both so comfy. Wore them with my go-to lululemon tee for layering! Love that it’s moisture wicking because even though it was chilly out, walking up and down the mountain you still work up a sweat!
looks for dinner + exploring
Here’s what I wore for our dinners out or exploring the town! Again, CO is super causal so you don’t need to pack anything fancy. Jeans, booties, sneakers, tees were perfect for our trip!
Are you heading to the mountains anytime soon?! Let me know if I didn’t cover anything or if you have any more questions! Thanks for reading!
