Happy Friday y’all! Today I’m answering 5 questions from you guys (and sharing the cutest boho fall dress), all about skincare, running playlists, healthy lunches, and more! I seriously love these q&a’s and hearing from you guys…so keep the questions coming!
1. What type of Nespresso machine do you have? Do you like it? I am looking into getting one and there are so many different options!
We have the Lattissima Touch Nespesso machine and it’s amazing! I like this machine because it does the milk frothing, and the espresso all in one. You can select if you just want a shot of espresso, if you want to make a cappuccino, or a latte. There are alot of options in this one machine. If you only want espresso though, I wouldn’t recommend getting this machine…because it does alot. If you want alot of options though, then this one is perfect. We’ve had it for over a year and never had any issues with it.
2. I would love to know any recommendations you have for healthy work lunches. In addition to workout bars, snacks, and pre/post workout supplements that you like. I do a ton of yoga/lifting and am looking for some new suggestions to maximize my workouts.
When I used to have an 8-5 job I had a few go-to lunches. (Warning though: I am more than okay with super simple meals and eating the same thing all the time haha so this might not work for everyone). But, I frequently would make a salad (the base of it was the ‘power of greens’ salad mix from trader joe’s – a spinach/kale mix), and then cut up veggies (cucumber, bell pepper, tomatoes), add in some almonds and raisins…and then a protein! I usually would do tuna, or chicken if I made it ahead of time! It’s simple, but filling, and has all the food groups! (I’d also bring an apple or blueberries).
If I was REALLY on top of my game…I would meal prep on Sunday and bake a chicken breast, make sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts (again, really simple), and bring that to work with me everyday! I think the key to eating healthy at work though is always having healthy snacks with you. I would always bring an apple, keep a thing of almond butter at my desk, or protein bars. My favorite protein bars are Fitjoy bars and G2G Bars (you can get 15% g2g with the code KAY).
I actually did a post here about what pre-workout supplements I take!
3. How do you decide what to wear everyday? I am also a fashionista and own SO MANY clothes, shoes, handbags, earrings, etc. and because I have so much, I get overwhelmed and want to wear it all.
My answer to this question might not be super helpful, because as a blogger…I pretty much always decide what to wear based off of what is the newest thing in my closet, what is still in stock, what do I need to post about that a brand gifted me, etc. BUT. If I am not worried about taking pictures or instagram…here’s how I decide. First off, if I have anything new, I’ll usually grab that. If I don’t have anything new, it depends on how I’m feeling that day! If I’m feeling bloated or not my best…I go with a dress. If I’m in the mood to go all out with my hair and make-up, I’ll dress it up with statement earrings and fun shoes. If I’m feeling really good about my body…maybe my fave AG skinny jeans with a pair of booties and a cute top.
To be honest…I do have a lot of clothes, but when I’m getting dressed for the day or for a flight or for a date night…I consistently go back to my faves, which is why I think it’s so important to invest in good basics. I grab my fave pair of AG jeans 8 times out of 10, a great-fitting tee, and a cozy yet feminine cardigan. So, my advice would be…go with how you’re feeling that day! Are you in a cozy mood? A ‘go all out’ mood?
My second piece of advice would be…make your decision process easier by getting rid of things in your closet that you don’t LOVE, or things you haven’t worn in the past year. Only keep things in there that you truly love and enjoy wearing time and time again!
4. What is your skin care routine? Why do you like Tula?
I’ve mentioned this before, but as a blogger I honestly have hundreds of new skincare products to try, all the time. So, if there’s a new line I’m wanting to try…I try and stick with ONE line for a minimum of a month. If I love it, I rarely move on. If I don’t see much of a difference, I’ll try something else.
SO, I’ve been using Tula products for a while now and love them (PS you can get 20% off with code LAURENSIMS). When I saw my mom a few weeks ago, even she commented ‘your skin looks so good!’, and I honestly think it’s all because of Tula. Their products use probiotic technology which is amazing for your skin + helps with anti-aging.
Here are the Tula products I use on a daily basis:
If you want to start off slow and just try a few products though…I would definitely recommend starting with the cleanser, the pro-glycolic gel (I use this as a toner), the overnight skin rescue treatment, and the hydrating day/night cream. (They also have a discovery kit which would be a great place to start!)
5. What do you listen to while you run? How can you stay on the treadmill for so long?
I actually did a post a while back with my running playlist (here), so if you follow me on spotify, you can get my exact playlist! This is usually what I listen to while I run. But, if I’m running on the treadmill, often times I’ll bring my iPad to the gym and watch Netflix (currently going through Hart of Dixie haha don’t judge!) and it makes the time go by so much faster! I also like the ‘workout’ spotify playlist, and the ‘cardio’ spotify playlist! If I’m running outside though, I really like to listen to worship music…which is why Hillsong, Bethel, and other worship artists are on my running playlist!
