You guys know what a huge part of my life fitness is. I’m an avid runner and passionate about living an active and healthy lifestyle! When Michael and I first got married, he enjoyed working out but with a busy work schedule and other commitments…kind of got in a rut of working out just 1 or 2 days a week. So for the longest time, I’d just go to the gym or go for a run (or to Flywheel!) by myself – which I was totally fine with!

Within the last year though (moving to Colorado for sure played a part!), this has totally changed! Fitness is now not only a huge part of my life and Michael’s life, but our marriage as well! Moving to Colorado has made living an active lifestyle so much easier for both of us, and being active together is one of mine and Michael’s favorite things to do. We love going on hikes together, we both love to snowboard, we take Beau for runs, and we go to the gym together at least 5 days a week. I even talked him into coming to Corepower Yoga with me (and he loved it!)

If you or your husband (or both of you!) are feeling in a rut with working out or can’t bring yourself to go to the gym…let me tell you, it’s so much better to do it together and make it a part of your marriage! It’s like you have a live-in accountability partner with you who can push you to go for a run or get to the gym on days when you’re just not feeling it. I think having common interests with your spouse is so important and I love that we both share a passion for working out and being active.

Being active with your spouse also just means more quality time together! Michael and I have had so many great conversations on hikes, or even just having that extra time in the car together going to and from the gym is so great. There really are so many benefits, both physically and relationally to being active together! It’s brought us closer in so many ways.

If you’re not feeling motivated with fitness…let’s be honest having good workout clothes will always help! Anytime I want to surprise Michael with a gift or if he’s needing a new pullover for running in cooler temps, Nordstrom is for sure my go-to. They carry all of our favorite activewear brands. They have performance activewear clothes, as well as more ‘athleisure’ style looks! Other men’s activewear faves:

I hope this motivates you to get outdoors, get active with your hubby or boyfriend! Maybe start small and just go for a walk around your neighborhood after work. Or put a gym date on your schedules for this Saturday. I think you will love it as much as we do!

This post was created in collaboration with Nordstrom. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
