power of giving + receiving a compliment

As girls, we all do it. We all get awkward when people compliment us or deny whatever the compliment is. Friend: “your hair looks gorgeous today!” Me: “oh my gosh no I haven’t washed it in days and it’s a rat’s nest.” I think when we do this, we think we’re coming across as humble. When in reality…it just makes said complimenter feel totally discredited and like her compliment meant nothing to us. Our denial of a compliment (no matter how big or small the compliment is) shows insecurity and a lack of appreciation for the kind words just spoken to us. We all know how powerful giving a compliment or encouraging words is, but what we might not realize is how powerful it is to truly accept a compliment!

I’ve been a huge fan of Kopari for a long time now. So when I heard about this “learn to accept a compliment” campaign they were doing, I was really excited to partake and help spread the word on this! I started using this coconut rose toner a month or so ago as a kind of refreshing / hydrating mist throughout the day – and it’s especially great for when you get off an airplane. I spritzed it on my face before we got off the plane in Dallas a few weeks ago, and the lady who worked at Starbucks said “you have the prettiest skin!” My initial instinct was to discredit her compliment and say “oh my gosh it looks awful – I’ve been on a plane and haven’t slept”…but chose to accept her compliment and thank her for those kind words! It truly does make both parties involved feel so much better!

In the last month or so I’ve been trying out this Kopari skincare line so I could share my review with you guys…and have fallen in love with it! I’ve used their products before for my body (like their coconut crush scrub and coconut deodorant), but this was my first time to try out their face products. They did not disappoint! First of all, this line is such a great price point. You can get all 3 pieces in the skincare line for $38 or less! The coconut rose toner is amazing and only $24. Second of all, I’ll be honest…I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and I just love how their products look – slash they are also really easy to travel with!

What I really love about this line though (and all Kopari product) is that they are 100% free from silicones, parabens, toxins and sulfates and they are non-GMO! They use the safest, cleanest ingredients. And the best part: their products work. This skincare line is super effective in giving you hydrated, glowing skin.

Okay so be honest! How are you with accepting compliments? Let’s all be conscious this week both about giving thoughtful and genuine compliments, and also receiving them with gratitude and confidence! Thanks for reading!

This post was created in collaboration with Kopari. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
