Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
There really is something so magical about the beginning of fall. Up until 2017 I lived in Texas my whole life and never experienced a REAL, magical, beautiful fall until moving to Colorado and my world was rocked my first fall in Boulder. Gorgeous fall foliage, crisp mornings, perfect weather, but for such a short season. Two quotes have been on my mind lately this fall. The first, I shared at the top of this post…which reminded me of another quote, about starting over by Fitzgerald:
I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
When January 1 rolls around, we all get out our journals and set new goals for the year, or look back on the previous year and evaluate ALL the things. I do this as well and I love it and think it’s really important. I’m learning though that this “starting over / clean slate” mindset doesn’t have to only live on January 1. I want to encourage you guys today, right now, or maybe take some time this weekend to just look around you. Maybe think about some of the goals you set yourself this past January. Or just think about your life. Have you built a life you’re proud of? I hope your answer is YES! But what if it’s not? Or maybe you are really proud of the life you’ve built, but there are certainly things you’d like to change. I hope you have the strength to start over in areas that need a clean slate.
When you take this time to evaluate where you’re at in life right now, I encourage you to actually take the time. Maybe wake up early before the rest of your house is up, pour some coffee and just be still for a moment. To be honest, in these quiet moments, I’ve had a few areas of my life come to mind where I feel like I need to “start over” or where I find myself wanting a clean slate. I’m here to tell you guys, we don’t have to wait until January 1 to hit the restart button. To me, that’s what’s so beautiful about fall. It reminds that life can start all over again, when it gets crisp in the fall. Give yourself the space and the freedom and the grace to start over where you need to start over.
On a slightly later note, we all know the other magical thing about fall is the amazing clothes! I love shopping year round but fall, hands down, is my favorite time of year for shopping and putting outfits together. Banana Republic has so many amazing new arrivals on their site right now that I’ve been loving. Something I love about BR is how easily you can create such a versatile wardrobe with their pieces. These crop jeans for example, you see styled two different ways in this post. One is slightly more dressed up with a heel, and the second is more of a casual everyday look paired with a flat loafer. I love that these jeans make a statement and are so on-trend, but also extremely classy and flattering at the same time!

So, no matter where you’re at today…I hope this fall season is inspiring you to continue to build a life that you’re proud of. And if you’re seeing areas of your life you don’t feel proud of, I hope this fall season is also reminding you that you can start all over again, today.
Fall truly is the most magical time of year.
Thank you to Banana Republic for sponsoring this post.
