best purchases of 2017!

One of my favorite / most-read posts last year was my best purchases of 2016, so I decided a while ago to share my best purchases of 2017 with y’all too! Obviously as a blogger I’m constantly buying / trying new things…some that are great, but not life-changing. And then SOME that have made my best purchases of 2017 list! Enjoy!

Prada round sunglasses

I first spotted these prada sunglasses at the beginning of 2017 and fell in love with them right away, but didn’t pull the trigger because of the price. I thought after a few weeks I’d forget about them, but I definitely didn’t! I eventually pulled the trigger and haven’t regretted it for a second. I LOVE round sunglasses and these are the perfect size for my face – the frames aren’t too big or too small. I love that they are neutral enough to go with everything, but still make a statement at the same time. The quality is also amazing – they have held their shape, and stayed in perfect condition, despite the hundreds of times I’ve worn them.

Citizens of Humanity rocket jeans

I recently did a whole blog post (here) about these citizens jeans and why I love them so much, so I won’t go into too much detail because you can read all about them in that post! But in short, these are hands down the most comfortable and flattering jeans I have ever owned. For years I’d heard people rave about Citizens, but I was hesitant to branch out in the denim department (previously I solely wore AG, which I still love). But as soon as I tried this pair on, I knew what all the hype was about. Even if you had one of those ‘I ate a whole pizza by myself and had ice cream after’ type of nights…you will STILL look good in these jeans!

Stuart Weitzman lowland and hiline boots

Okay y’all. These boots had been on my wish list for years now. I think I’d bought at least 3 pair of ‘dupes’ because I couldn’t make myself spend that much money on the real thing. I finally went into Nordstrom to try them on, thinking that once I tried them on I would think ‘okay, no way are these worth that amount of money’. But, unfortunately (lol), I tried them on and instantly thought “worth every penny”. These boots (both the flat ones and the heeled) instantly make your legs look so long and lean, even if you don’t have long legs haha, it’s magical. I LOVE how they look with skirts and dresses, and how they instantly make any outfit more chic!

The other great things about these boots is they don’t fall down your leg like most OTK boots! They magically fit your leg perfectly and stay up all day without sliding down! Since I bought them in October, they have for sure been my most worn pair of shoes these last 3 months.

Winter coats: Canada Good parka and Patagonia tres parka

I did an entire blog post here about my Canada Goose jacket and why I’m so obsessed with it, so I won’t go into too much detail about that one. But check out that post if you’re interested in buying one. This is the most expensive thing I have ever purchased for myself (clothes-wise), and can honestly say it’s been 100% worth the money. You would not BELIEVE how warm this coat is. I’ve worn it when it’s been 10 degrees outside, and the weather has felt completely manageable to walk around in. The quality if this jacket is unparalleled and if you live somewhere cold, it’s a total game changer with handling cold temps.

I haven’t shared though this Patagonia jacket with y’all before (I think I did on IG stories but not on the blog). This is another one of my best purchases for 2017 because it’s also insanely warm + great for cold temps…but I think it’s a little bit easier to wear everyday vs the Canada Goose. I love wearing my CG jacket when it’s snowing or insanely cold or we’re going to the mountains. BUT I love wearing this Patagonia jacket for the other cold days – like, 25-50 degrees. It looks a little less mountain-esque and more sporty/feminine/chic IMO. This is the jacket I always bring with me when we go to Dallas in the winter too!

I also love this Patagonia jacket because it’s 3-in-1. So, if it’s not that cold, you can zip out the inner layer (which is a puffer jacket) and just wear the outside layer. You really will get SO much use out of this jacket!

Vince slip on sneakers

I’m sure y’all aren’t surprised to see these Vince slip-ons on my list! They might even be #1 for me. I’d been eyeing these for months but felt like $225 for slip-ons was pretty steep. THEN, my mom and I went to London together and she had them. I tried hers on / wore them around London and fell in love, and then ordered my own pair haha. They are SO comfortable, perfect for travel, and look adorable with jeans, workout leggings, t-shirt dresses, sweatpants…it’s amazing. I’ve worn them on travel days where I’m walking all day long and my feet never hurt! They are worth every penny, and I really want a second color haha.

Rag & Bone Margot booties

Y’all are probably all too familiar with these booties already because I talked about them constantly during the Nordstrom sale, and have worn them hundreds of times since then. This is my go-to pair of booties. I brought them to (and walked all over) Europe in these, I wear them for date night, with denim shorts, and everything in between. They are the most comfortable pair of booties I’ve ever worn, the quality is amazing, and they magically look adorable with EVERYTHING. If you’ve been debating these booties, I promise you you won’t regret it!

Nike air zoom pegasus

So these are a really new purchase for me (I’ve only had them for about 6 weeks) but knew right away they would make my best purchases list! First of all, these kicks are just adorable haha so it was love at first sight. I just ran a marathon and I am an ASICS girl for running shoes, through and through. Prior to this pair of Nikes, I’d never found a pair of Nikes I enjoyed running in.

These Nikes totally changed that. I’ve run 6 miles in these Nikes a few different times now and they were GREAT. But the reason they’re making my best purchases list is because they aren’t just a great running shoe. They are also great for cross training (weight lifting, workout classes, HIIT workouts, etc), AND they look cute with loungewear / athleisure. Most of the time when we travel I have to bring a pair of running shoes (my asics), plus a pair of shoes that will look cute with loungewear outfits. I love that with these shoes, I can just bring one pair, and they work great for everything!

Nespresso vertuo plus

Sorry I feel like a broken record for saying this haha, but I recently did a full blog post about my Nespresso machine here with ALL the info on it. So check that out if you’re thinking about buying one. I am seriously obsessed with my Nespresso though. I had a Keurig before and just didn’t like how the coffee tasted (watered down, not fresh, yuck). We have a coffee pot, but I don’t like to make a whole pot of coffee just for myself (Michael rarely drinks coffee. I know, the horror!). My Nespresso makes the BEST coffee and can also do espresso shots for lattes and stuff! I use it every single day (if not multiple times a day haha).

Free People sweater

It might seem silly to include a sweater in my best purchases for this year…but if you have this sweater, you know it’s not silly at all! I’ve worn this sweater more times than I’d like to admit this fall / winter, and I’m still not sick of it. It’s one of those sweaters you always throw on when you don’t know what to wear, because it’s always a hit. I love the oversized fit – it looks adorable with skinny jeans and boots which is just my style!

Madewell kent cardigan (also available here)

Speaking of sweaters, this cardigan is my absolute favorite I’ve bought this year (and y’all know I have a lot of cardigans haha). It is INSANELY soft and the length is perfect. I have it in multiple colors and wear it on pretty much every flight, over pajama’s, with denim shorts on warmer days, with jeans…and pretty much everything else you could think of. It’s become such a staple in my wardrobe!

Tata Harper regenerating cleanser | Tata Harper hydrating floral essence

Check out this post to see my fully detailed Tata Harper skincare routine. I obviously love this entire line of clean skincare products, but this cleanser and this toner are probably my 2 faves (if I had to pick two). The exfoliating cleanser clears / prevents breakouts and makes your skin so soft. And the hydrating floral essence toner hydrates your skin and tones it and preps it for your serums all at the same time. Obsessed with these two products!

Sunday Riley luna oil | Sunday Riley good genes

If you follow me on IG stories, then you’re well aware of how obsessed I am with Sunday Riley right now. I started incorporating this luna night oil and ‘good genes’ serum into my nighttime skincare routine a few weeks ago and they are AMAZING. The luna oil has retinol on it, and good genes is an all in one resurfacing treatment that does wonders for fine lines or dull/dead skin cells. Highly recommend both of these products!

Hydroflask water bottle

Okay I know a water bottle seems like a random thing to include in my best purchases haha but I am obsessed with both of my hydroflask water bottles! I have the 32oz size for home, and the 18oz size for travel. I love that they keep your water cold for forever, and that you can have a straw with them!! I seriously have an addiction to these water bottles.

WHEW that was a lot of info! Did any of you guys purchase any of these things this past year?! Did they change your life too? Comment below and let me know!!
