staying active in the fall

I don’t know about you, but after summer’s over I definitely find staying active to be more of a challenge. As temps start to cool down I find myself wanting to hibernate more – stay inside in sweatpants with hot chocolate by a fire. Plus, sweater season is now upon us and sweaters can hide a lot more than a swimsuit can lol. So in general, I just feel less motivated to stay active in the fall and winter! What’s really helped me though is finding activities to do that I really enjoy that get me outside and enjoying the gorgeous fall weather,

So I’m currently 8 months pregnant, meaning I’m not really running outside anymore. I still run on the treadmill but I don’t run outside as much anymore to avoid falling (and because let’s be honest, I’m having to pee way more often). But, I still love finding ways to be outside in this beautiful fall weather! One of my favorite fall activities is just going for walks around our neighborhood or around a lake near our house called Wonderland Lake. I think even once baby sims arrives, we’ll continue to go for these strolls together, all bundled up!

A big key to staying active in the fall is having the right clothes that will make you want to go outside. Especially since we moved to Colorado, Backcountry has become a go-to for me in shopping for activewear or anything outdoor related! When it comes to staying active in during the fall season, I am all about having a great selection of Patagonia on hand. This amazing vest I’m wearing today is so versatile and the perfect layering piece for fall and winter. It comes in TONS of colors and I own it in 3, because I seriously wear it ALL the time! (For size reference, I’m wearing the size small!).

I think there’s something so therapeutic about spending at least a little bit of time outside every single day – especially when the weather is beautiful, like it is right now in Boulder! If you also struggle to find workout motivation in fall…I want to encourage you to just get outside! Whether that means you’re going for a run, a walk around the lake, walking and talking with your husband, riding your bike…it will be so good for your soul! I love listening to worship music or podcasts on my walks if I’m by myself. This activity is not only great for my physical health but also puts me in such a healthier headspace as well. The first step to getting outdoors though to get moving, is having the right clothes for it! I highly recommend checking out Backcountry for any of your fall activities!
