As most of y’all know, I had my first baby about 3 months ago and she has pretty much changed every aspect of my life including my daily routine and “norms”! And I love it! Prior to having Shiloh, I typically went to the gym 5-6 days a week and worked out for about an hour each time. My workouts look very different now haha. I’ve had to figure out how to workout at home, or find other ways to be active, that don’t require me leaving her or leaving the house for a long period of time. One of my new favorite ways to be active during the day is just getting outside and going for walks with Shiloh. I time it around her feedings to make sure she’s happy for the entire walk haha so we will typically go right after a feeding. When the weather is nice, we’ll usually walk for a mile or two, just me and her, and it’s always the best part of my day.PIN IT

These walks with my girl have been so therapeutic for me. Walking with Shiloh is not only physically beneficial (because moving your body is always a good thing!), but taking a 30 minute break in the middle of my work day to just get outside and be in nature with my girl is always so refreshing. I use this time in nature to take a break from screens, talk to the Lord about what’s on my heart that day, or pray for my girl.
I definitely still try to get a workout in as much as I can during the week…but on days where I can’t get to a run or a flywheel class, I’ve learned to appreciate a 30 minute walk outside. Some days these walks are more beneficial + fruitful for me then spending an hour in our home gym. I’m learning to embrace this new activity for both my physical and my mental health!PIN IT

Considering it’s winter in Colorado right now, having the right layers for these walks is crucial! Shiloh is always super bundled up in tons of layers, a hat and blanket [even when it’s like 55 degrees haha], and I always look to Backcountry for any outdoor activities! These sweatpants I’m wearing today are AMAZING because they are actually fleece-lined and the softest sweats you will ever wear! I like that they’re kind of a crossover between a sweat pant and legging because of the skinny fit! I’ve also been loving this down jacket for outdoor walks or hikes or just running errands around town. It is such a great price for amazing quality. I love that it’s lightweight but because of the premium goose down, it still keeps me super warm. This jacket also comes in tons of adorable color options!
I also have a discount code for Backcountry for y’all too! You can use the code ‘LAURENKS15’ to get 15% off your purchase. As y’all know, I’ve been shopping Backcountry for years and find a lot of my outerwear and workout clothes there. They seriously have everything and the quality is incredible!PIN IT

So I just want to challenge you to think outside the box this January (or, in 2019!) with new activities! Broaden your horizon with what your definition of “active” looks like. Maybe try taking a ski lesson, or block off time to go for a hike…anything that maybe pushes you out of your comfort zone a little and allows you to be in nature! It’s been an amazing thing for me! Thanks for reading!
