Happy 3rd of July! I’m assuming you guys have fun bbq’s, pool parties, and grill outs planned for tomorrow! I’m a firm believer in the importance of having a good burger or hot dog on the 4th haha BUT if you are looking to bring something a little healthier to your cookout…I wanted to share a few healthy options for 4th for today’s wellness wednesday post! We all know there will be lots of yummy desserts and snacks at these parties, so I think it’s nice to have some variety and bring a healthy dish as well!
Guacamole deviled eggs
I shared this recipe on the blog a few years back, so this is a long time fave for me! I LOVE deviled eggs for an appetizer, and these are made without the mayo or other unhealthy fillings..and uses guacamole instead! Eggs and avocado…does it get any better?! The photo above and the recipe are both from skinnytaste!
Spinach and artichoke avocado dip
This recipe takes about 15 minutes to make and has SO much flavor! I love spinach and artichoke dip but it’s definite far from healthy haha so this option is a much healthier alternative and so delicious! You can serve it with tortilla chips or a bunch of fresh chopped veggies! Definitely a crowd please. The above photo and recipe are from the defined dish!
Baked bacon wrapped chicken + jalapeño bites
I don’t know about you…but I am all about protein haha I LOVE meat. So this is a recipe I cannot wait to try! This looks super simple to make, but does take a little while to bake in the oven so make sure you plan accordingly! Personally I think bacon-wrapped anything is always a good idea! The photo above and the recipe are from the defined dish!
Patriotic paleo parfait
This little sweet treat would be perfect to prepare if you are hosting your july 4th party! You can double or triple the recipe to make as many little parfaits as you need. They look adorable and are the perfect healthy option for a dessert! The photo above and recipe are from nom nom paleo!
Mango, mozzarrella + prosciutto skewers
Skewers are such an easy app / snack item to bring to a 4th of July party and so yummy! I love this combination with mango, mozzarella and prosciutto but you could get creative with tons of different combos! I think a meat, cheese, and fruit idea is always great, and maybe drizzle with balsamic!
What are y’alls plans for the 4th and what are you cooking / bringing?! TBH we have zero plans at this point (on July 2nd haha) but I’m sure we’ll have a chill + fun day with friends here in Boulder.
Thanks for reading!
