About a month ago, Michael and I had a trip planned to Hawaii with my parents and my brother that we were SO excited about. Most of you guys know the story but I actually got really sick the day before we were supposed to leave for Hawaii and per my doctor’s recommendation, was unable to go. I was heart broken to say the least! My parents and brother still went on the trip and my mom sent me some of the most STUNNING pictures from Maui and from where they were staying! I briefly shared the Vacasa property they stayed in on my stories and lots of you guys were interested in it. So I wanted to share some more details here in case any of you are planning a trip to Maui!
Some of you guys might remember that Michael and I stayed in a Vacasa house right after Shiloh was born, in Breckenridge, CO and LOVED it! So when we started planning our Hawaii trip, we knew we wanted to look into Vacasa properties! We love the idea of being able to stay in a nice, spacious, cozy house on vacation and have amenities like a full kitchen, washer dryer, and ample space to spread out in. We found this gorgeous property in Maui and knew it would be perfect for me Michael and Shiloh, as well as my parents and my brother to all stay at!
From the moment my family arrived to the Vacasa property in Maui, my mom was sending me pictures and videos non-stop because of how beautiful the condo was! This condo can sleep up to 8 people, it’s 1600 square feet, and has incredible views. You also have access to a fitness center, hot tub and pool! This property is also in an amazing location – just steps away from the beach, practically next door to Duke’s Beach House restaurant, along with tons of other really popular Maui restaurants nearby! This condo is 3 bedrooms and two of the bedrooms have aa king size bed, which makes it perfect for a group trip with multiple couples!
We absolutely love staying in Vacasa properties when we travel, and they have gorgeous properties all over the world! We’ve always had a great experience whether it’s in Breckenridge or my family’s experience in Hawaii. They have wonderful customer service, their properties are beautiful and have amazing amenities, and we love having a lot of space when we travel, especially now with a baby!
I also wanted to share a few other travel tips with y’all in case you’re planning a trip to Maui soon! I actually did an entire blog post about Maui in 2018 which you can find here. All of these things / recommendations still hold true. But a few things I want to make sure y’all know ahead of time!
- Mama’s Fish House was hands down our favorite restaurant in Maui. It’s expensive but worth every penny. My parents even said it was one of the best meals they’ve ever had! BUT they book up SO far in advance! So as soon as you know your Maui dates, make sure to call and get a reservation! (We’re talking like, 6 months in advance!)
- Haleakala is one of the most popular things to do when in Maui. It’s a massive Maui volcano where you can see the most incredible sunrise from. Michael and I didn’t do it the first time we went to Maui (I was pregnant, in my first trimester with Shiloh). We weren’t aware then that you have to call ahead of time to get a reservation – whether you are driving your own car, or using a tour / shuttle. So, make sure to get a reservation for that ahead of time as well.
- Road to Hana is pretty much an all day ordeal but WORTH IT if you’ve never done it before!
Again, Michael and I were so bummed we had to miss out on this trip with my family. But it just makes us want to plan another Maui trip in 2020 for sure! If you are planning a trip to Hawaii, I definitely recommend checking out all of the properties that Vacasa has there.
What are some of your favorite Maui things / places / restaurants? I’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments below! Thanks for reading!
