kitchen organization tips

About a month or so ago, Michael and I teamed up with Organization & Relocation to TOTALLY spring clean / re-organize our kitchen and it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made! [Y’all might remember they also helped me get my office organized as well!]. We have a pretty big kitchen with tons of storage space, but needed help coming up with ideas on how to best organize everything, in a way that would make it easy and manageable to maintain! The Org & Relo team had so many amazing ideas and were insanely helpful. So, today I want to share a little bit of that process with you guys, as well as a few kitchen organization tips!

Before I get into the nitty gritty of my kitchen organization tips…I want to talk about the organization process first. Org & Relo sent a team of 3 people to work on our kitchen, and the first thing they did was take everything out of the cabinets, drawers, etc. and put everything into sections. So, they had a section for water bottles (I have a slight obsession with water bottles), Tupperware, protein powder, plastic cups, etc. Once everything was in its section, they had me go through each section and decide “do I really need / use this?” (ie: one girl probably does not need 23 water bottles). So, before we organized everything, I was able to trim down everything we owned, so that we only kept what we really use and need.

After Org & Relo compartmentalized everything, and then got rid of the excess…they started asking me a lot of questions in order to figure out how to most effectively organize the kitchen. Am I right handed or left handed? Do I make smoothies everyday, or could the blender be put up somewhere higher? Which vitamins / supplements do I take everyday vs what could be “back stock”? From there, they made decisions on where to place things. I’m right handed, so the things I use to cook with the most are in a drawer directly to the right of the stove. I make smoothies / shakes everyday, so we put my blender in a place that’s very easily accessible. They made decisions on placement based off of our lifestyle and habits, because that ensures an organization system that is easy and maintainable.

Something you will notice throughout our entire kitchen is TONS of these clear plastic bins in lots of different sizes. These are a game changer when it comes to organizing your kitchen! We used them for my ridiculous collection of protein bars haha (see this post for my favorite protein bars + protein powders. I have a few bars I would add to this list now though: no cow and one bars!).

We also used these chalkboard labels for pretty much everything in our pantry (snacks, chips, baking, pasta, etc). It seems simple but having things labeled will help keep everything organized when you’re putting groceries away (or really help your husband keep things organized if he’s unloading groceries haha).

We have glass cabinets on either side of our stove, and Org & Relo helped us arrange / display our china and our everyday dishes so they look pretty but are also super easy to access!

One of my favorite kitchen organization tips from Org & Relo is found in the above photo, in our silverware drawer! I love these drawer organizers for sorting your silverware. It makes finding things and unloading the dishwasher so much easier. They also just look really pretty! With this method of silverware organization, EVERYTHING (including grapefruit spoons!) has a place!

We also used these drawer organizers for our ‘junk drawer’ (come on, everyone has one). And now our junk drawer is totally organized, with a place for matches, chapstick, keys, headphones, gum, etc! And it’s actually stayed this way for over a month now! You can mix and match the drawer organizers to get the exact size you need, for the amount of stuff you have.

Here are the same drawer organizers in different sizes to sort all of my nespresso pods! (See this post for all the information you’ll ever need on my nespresso machines!)

We have a few different lazy susan corner cabinets in our kitchen which we love. (We are intentionally leaving some empty space for all of the baby stuff I know we will be filling it with soon!). We used one of the lazy susan cabinets for all of my protein powders and collagen! I use these on a daily basis, so we put them right below where I make my shakes in the morning!

I could go into way more detail about each drawer and how its organized haha but thought I’d just share some of the most helpful kitchen organization tips with y’all today! Org & Relo was amazing to work with and so helpful. If you’re needing to do some spring cleaning or need help organizing ANY room in your house, I definitely suggest contacting them!

Thanks for reading!
